What Alana F doesn't like about The Farmer's Boy:
Made a reservation for my family which was confirmed by email. Showed up and was bounced between the bar and restaurant staff both equally saying they were unable to see/sit us. Waited 10 minutes and was told they were fully booked and that the online reservation system is inaccurate. Manager who was a young girl came over and told me i could skt at the pub bar with my two small children to eat. She was rude and patr... View all feedback.

I had an amazing Christmas dinner at this restaurant in 2023. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. It was the best Christmas dinner I've had in years. I highly recommend it. The turkey and all the trimmings were amazing.
I recently visited the Farmers Boy for a Christmas dinner and was impressed with the delicious food. Izzy, our waitress, was very helpful and friendly. The service was quick and the atmosphere inside the pub was cozy.
I have eaten at the Farmers Boy (FM) scores of times and even taken groups of circa 20 people, but never again it was the worst food I have ever had, in fact all other local pubs and especially the Five Horseshoes at Little Berkhamsted leaves the Farmers Boy seriously a long way way behind, it seems other pubs know how to cook food and I would seriously suggest the management and 'Chef ' at the FM visit the 5 Horseshoes as they will learn a lot about how food is cooked and served. Please now let me explain we arrived (myself and my wife) and ordered at circa 12.15 and at the time we were the only 2 guests in the restaurant/pub so there can be NO excuse due to the pub being busy. I had the hunter’s chicken with the chicken being placed on a COLD metal tray so was cold to eat with cold soggy chips, which were obviously from the day before and cold peas, for some strange reason the onion rings were fine. My wife had the gammon half of which could only be used to repair the sole of a shoe, yes it was that hard and dry and again accompanied by old cold soggy chips and cold peas. A lot, in fact most, of this meal was left. I should have complained at the time, but we were so disgusted we just wanted to get out. On leaving we heard other tables complaining about cold food etc and saw a lot of food waste. Luckily, very, we did not suffer any ill health after effects had we encountered such this would be be with Lawyers now. I did email the Farmers Boy and also Stonegate owners of the FM and chased them but have not received the curtesy of a reply. My advice would be to ensure food is hot and of good quality if not complain on the spot, sadly I did not do so.
