Hertford Cafe - East Hertfordshire

Visited for lunch. Ordered tuna salad and half chicken and salad with tea. Service not good had to get own menu then tea took ages to arrive. But that was the good part. Tuna was so dry and over cooked that it was inedible. Salad had some very slushy tomatoes in it. Chicken was so dry again barely edible and arrived with chips not salad. To be fair they got us a salad and left us the chips and refunded the tuna dish. But we wanted to enjoy a lunch and not have to complain and go home hungry. Why can’t they get it right. Are all cafe rouges the same. Disappointed

My grandchildren love this place, good basic food, egg and chips, sausages, etc etc together with a range of hot and cold drinks at sensible prices ... beats the chains every day of the week.

My husband met me during my work for lunch and we went here. The food was very nice and reasonably priced. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

My husband says I am a snob and it took him an age to get me to come here for coffee and poached eggs on toast! He was right I was wrong!! Best coffee in Hertford. Perfectly good breakfast (their eggs could be bigger) and service very nice. Thumbs up from me.

Have been in Hertford for 12 weeks now and have tried a number of the cafes for Breakfast and Lunch have finally found my favourite The Hertford Cafe good all round food breakfast or lunch and the fry an Egg the ‘proper’ way ! Perfect Black Coffee too... Will be back thank you
