Delicious food. It was piping hot when we got it home. Quality ingredients, nicely cooked. It was ready and waiting for us to collect. I wish I had discovered this place years ago! View all feedback.
What Bev W doesn't like about Famous Chef:
The customer service at this restaurant was absolutely terrible. The manager was rude, arrogant, and disrespectful. The food was just average, and it arrived late and lukewarm. I would not recommend ordering from here, especially if you value good customer service or if you are a woman. The manager's behavior was disgraceful and disgusting. View all feedback.
This review is based on take-out orders only. It appears that customers who have ordered anything in battered balls have had a difficult experience, so it might be best to avoid those dishes. However, we have been ordering from this restaurant regularly for the past 6 years and, except for one incident of forgetting an item, they have always been on time, polite, and the food is delicious. There is a wide variety of choices on the menu and everything we have tried has been tasty (with the exception of the battered ball dishes, as mentioned by other reviewers).

Today, we tried takeout from The Famous Chef for the first time and loved it. The spring rolls were generously sized and all the dishes were delicious.
How on earth this place is still open for business I'll never know. But it is the only Chinese takeaway in Grayshott so the locals don't have much choice. The prawn balls were saturated in oil, you could squeeze the grease out onto your plate. The crispy chicken was like eating rubber (pre-frozen springs to mind) and it came with lumps of sugar granules. The singapore noodles were also greasy and weirdly had curry sauce on it. Not sure that's normal!? They even got the prawn crackers wrong, hard and brown on the edges. If you rate this more than 1 star then please venture out.
Friendly staff, amazing food at good prices! Only downside is they only open for dinner! Love the fortune cookies at the end too
