Handy café in Alton. Food is fairly basic and inexpensive, but is home cooked and quite well prepared, and generally tasty. We've been there a few times, and have usually been happy. It's not huge, so can fill up at peak times. Last time we asked for a veg burger, but got a standard meat one. We didn't send it back, but obviously this would have been a problem for vegetarians. There is a new independent cafe called Bahama Bay in Alton. The owners are very friendly and the atmosphere is beautiful and relaxed. The food is delicious and very affordable. We tried the Da' fish sandwich and the big breakfast. It is worth noting that any previous negative reviews may have been for a different cafe at the same address.
This cozy and welcoming local café is a favorite among the community. We enjoyed the Cuban Fusions-Pini, rarebit, and breakfast dishes, all of which were delicious and beautifully presented. We can't wait to try the homemade brownies again!
My wife and I visited Bahama Bay for lunch on a Friday afternoon. We were warmly greeted, seated, and given menus. The menu offered a variety of options including jacket potatoes, breakfast items, and paninis. I chose the big club sandwich with a side of fries, while my wife went with the chili jacket potato. Both dishes were prepared excellently and tasted delicious. The chef, Brian, even came out to chat with us. Overall, we had a lovely lunch followed by coffee and brownies. We highly recommend Bahama Bay for good food, a relaxed atmosphere, and friendly staff. We will definitely be returning in the future!
