Known for its warm atmosphere, friendly staff, and delectable steamed sandwiches, it stands apart from the trendy hotspots with overpriced fads. Guests rave about the generous slices of cake, high-quality teas, and the charming setting, complete with a cozy log fire. The innovative “pay what you think it's worth” concept invites patrons to appreciate the experience rather than adhere to traditional pricing. Perfect for a quiet getaway or a gathering, this hidden gem is certainly worth the journey.
I feel the word ‘sect’ is rather strong and can give the wrong impression! I have visited Yellow Deli, Honiton High st, I found staff to be very friendly and efficient! No pushing of beliefs!! People need to be careful of unfairly labelling those who perhaps choose a life simply different from most!!
1st time visit. Rosina was very helpful and friendly. Warm log fire, excellent food and coffee. Will be back asap. Worth travelling from Exeter for this experience. A summer visit to take in the country views is an absolute must.
I have never come across a place like this in the UK, a community run cafe bakery doing things their own way. The result is a really great little place that not only offers good cakes and the most amazing steamed sandwiches, but has a proper friendly and cozy environment. This is the antithesis of trendy new hipster joints catering to the whims of fashion; no vegan fad driving this place, or overpriced coffee that has been brewed in a kids chemistry set, just a focus on doing everything well. The reviews speak for themselves and reflect the comments from other guests there at the same time as me. Even the donation payment idea is quite different to just about every other cafe, and shows the attitude and confidence of the people running this great place.
Well off the beaten track and not especially well signposted but it is well worth seeking out. The menu is very limited to one sandwich offering, which is really excellent, and a few cake options, that were good but a little on the stodgy side. A good range of teas and a very tasty apple juice rounded things off nicely. And you pay, whatever you think it is worth.
I stopped for a break during a long drive and enjoyed a nice cup of coffee and a generous slice of cake. The unique aspect of this cafe is that you pay based on what you feel the experience is worth.
