Sawatdee - East Devon
Sawatdee
Description
This Thai restaurant offers an authentic culinary journey that delights with its flavorful dishes. Guests rave about the tantalizing tom yum soup and spicy curry options, all meticulously prepared without compromising on traditional ingredients. While the food generally garners praise for its quality and reasonable prices, service inconsistencies have been noted, with some staff lacking professionalism. The décor may be simple, but the warm atmosphere and intriguing non-alcoholic drink selections enhance the dining experience. Despite some negative impressions regarding staff behavior, many diners find the food alone makes visits worthwhile, promising a delicious meal every time.

Lovely authentic Thai food! Satay chicken and tom yum soup are amazing. Quiet place to have a lovely dinner. Really enjoyed it!
The food at this restaurant is excellent and the staff are friendly. The prices are really good value for money and the drinks are reasonably priced. This was our first visit and we would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Thai food. We will definitely be returning.
I booked a table for four and upon arrival, we were greeted at the reception/takeaway desk and shown to our seats. The dining area was clean, simply decorated, and tastefully done with enough space between tables for comfort. I would estimate that the restaurant can accommodate around 40 covers. There was no background music, just the pleasant sound of conversation which created a nice ambiance. The waitress provided us with menus and gave us plenty of time to make our choices. We opted for mixed platters for two as starters, and variations of stir-fries with noodles and prawn crackers for our mains. Starters were priced at around £5 each, mains at £8.50 with an additional £3 for noodles or rice. The presentation of all the dishes was excellent and they were all incredibly tasty. We were not rushed between courses and enjoyed our meal thoroughly. We were pleasantly surprised by the bill at the end of the night - £99 for four two-course meals, ten Bacardi and Cokes, and two Cokes for the designated driver. The value for money was outstanding and we all agreed that it was one of the best meals we had in years. We left a generous tip and will definitely be returning soon. I highly recommend this restaurant for its service, atmosphere, food quality, and value for money. If you're open to trying Thai cuisine (which can be spicy), you will not be disappointed. Thank you to Urai and the team - we look forward to seeing you again soon.
I certainly enjoyed the food. Personally, I loved the fact that it was quiet, but I know not everyone enjoys that. I had a delicious meal and great conversation, stayed for hours and no one looked like they wanted us to get out ASAP, which was much appreciated.
We tried loads of dishes between us and they were all delicious. Perfectly seasoned and cooked, meat was tender and vegetables not over done. Service was helpful and relaxed. Desserts were a bit disappointing so if you are there for lunch pop over to Toast if you want a lovely cake to follow your meal.
