New owners so very amateurish. Our room was not made up and had to wait nearly 2hours. However the chef was very good and had a very good evening meal. Very disappointed that while we were eating our evening meal the owner walked past us an did not look at us or enquire as to if everything was OK Rooms: 1 Service: 2 Location: 2 Hotel highlights: Quiet
I recently stayed at this hotel for a business trip, and I must say, it's a charming old establishment with plenty of character and a fantastic location. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the service was excellent. We dined at the restaurant for dinner and also had breakfast there—both meals were superb. I would highly recommend this hotel. As for the food and drinks, the dining experience was outstanding; I'd definitely choose to eat here even if I weren't a guest. Overall, I would rate the rooms a solid 5.
This is a charming restaurant with a pleasant ambiance and friendly staff. One of the best perks is that it's dog-friendly; our two hounds quickly settled into the lovely, relaxed atmosphere. As for the food and drinks, the breakfast was definitely worth the extra cost—my kids were well-fed and even fell asleep on the way home. Overall, I would rate the rooms a 4, service a 5, and location a 4. A highlight of the hotel is its peaceful environment.
We booked this place through Airbnb and the day before checking in, Craig the host emailed to say he could not longer host us as he double booked. We asked him to contact us and he did not have the decency to do this nor to give us a refund, meaning hours on the phone with airbnb to finally get out money back. Judging by other reviews, best thing you can do is to avoid the place. Cheers Craig, you ruined our weekend in Devon! Rooms: 1
This review may come across as a bit unusual. I made a reservation for New Year’s Eve, and upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted by Craig, who explained that he had just taken over the restaurant between Christmas and New Year’s. That was quite impressive! After checking into our room, we headed downstairs to dine. There, we met the previous owner, Richard, who was assisting Craig with the handover—this was a nice touch to help Craig settle in. However, it felt a bit odd to go to a small room to look at the menu before heading to the dining area. The menu primarily featured Thai cuisine, which was enjoyable, but it was a bit strange that there were so few traditional English options, especially given the local fish market just down the road. One downside was that our room did not meet expectations; it was quite dusty as if it hadn’t been cleaned in months. However, I want to acknowledge that Craig and his wife are open to feedback and are eager to improve in various areas. We’ve decided that we will definitely return to support Craig and Claire as they embark on this exciting journey, especially at such a challenging time of year. I'd like to extend my congratulations to them for their future endeavors. Craig also cooked our breakfast, which was quite good. The restaurant is located in Wilmington, just off the old A30. We will certainly be back and would recommend it for its lovely atmosphere and friendly service. Thank you, Craig, for your hospitality, and I wish you and your family all the best in this new adventure. The restaurant will be closed for January for renovations but will reopen in February.
