Seemed short staffed. Waited 20 minutes to have our order taken then another 40 before even our scones arrived. A disappointing last dining experience at Shift.
We are sorry to say goodbye to Shift. We had a wonderful meal but are glad that we were able to use up $150 in gift cards before they closed. If I didn’t get the notification email on Friday, I would have lost out on using my gift cards.

I was in a hurry and wanted a quick meal, so Marina, the server, suggested the roasted vegetable salad with an extra topping. I decided to add beef, and it turned out to be the perfect combination—delicious, refreshing, and tender. I highly recommend it! Also, be sure to visit the museum while you're there.
**The Food** Dining alongside another couple, we kicked off our meal with three appetizers: Crispy Mediterranean Ribs, Charred Calamari, and our friends indulged in a generous portion of Beef Tartare. The Mediterranean Ribs were expertly cooked to a crispy and juicy perfection, dusted with chili, fried herbs, and parmesan. We often hesitate to order ribs as an appetizer due to past disappointments, but our host reassured us it was an excellent choice—and he was spot on. These ribs were truly delicious. The Charred Calamari was the highlight of our appetizer selection. Perfectly cooked, it was served with vine-ripened tomatoes, capers, and brown butter, accompanied by toasted focaccia that was ideal for savoring the delightful sauce. Living in Toronto's Little Portugal, where grilled calamari is revered, we know quality when we taste it—and Shift’s calamari surpassed our expectations. Although we only sampled a small portion of the Beef Tartare, we can affirm its deliciousness. The rich beef, mixed with capers, gherkins, and Dijon mustard, was served with crisp bannock—drawing smiles from both our Polish and Scottish heritage. Each couple opted for the same two main dishes: Brick Pressed Cornish Hen and Slow Roasted Pork Shoulder. While we were warned about the generous portions, none of us anticipated the sheer amount of food that arrived. The Cornish Hens came with a warm potato and green bean salad, caramelized onions, and a truly delectable chicken jus. We have a great appreciation for restaurants that master a rich, flavorful jus, and aside from the exceptional one we had at St. Lawrence Restaurant in Vancouver, this might just be the best we've encountered in Canada. If it's on the menu when you visit, it's a must-try. The Pork Shoulder, cooked in a house-made BBQ sauce, was served with an outstanding macaroni and cheese casserole and green beans. The dish was delightful, though the presentation of the pork was not what we anticipated. We typically expect pulled pork shoulder, especially with mac and cheese, but here it was served as a boneless piece. While still tasty, we would have preferred a generous helping of pulled, fatty meat to mix with the pasta. That said, this is a minor complaint; the pork was tender and flavorful, and the mac and cheese was fantastic, featuring five varieties of cheese that rightly made “cheese” the star of the dish. **Ambiance** We were fortunate to be seated on Shift's beautiful outdoor terrace on a pleasantly warm summer evening. The terrace offers stunning views of the South Saskatchewan River and the nearby walking and cycling paths. Enjoying the sunset while watching people stroll along made for a charming addition to our evening. **Service** Thanks to our dinner companions, our very capable and attentive servers played supporting roles to Shift's general manager, who went above and beyond to enhance our experience. However, we have no doubt that any member of the Shift team would have provided excellent service. **Price** With a round of cocktails, two bottles of wine, taxes, and gratuity, our fine dining experience totaled $100 per person. Considering the quality and quantity of the food, along with the delightful ambiance and attentive service, we found this to be a very reasonable price for such a lovely evening.
I brought my grandfather here for lunch, and it turned out to be the best restaurant experience he's ever had. The server was incredibly kind, and the food was outstanding. The ambiance was chic and modern yet tranquil—an ideal setting for a special meal with my grandpa. I also appreciated the cleanliness of the place and the availability of individual bathrooms that are both accessible and gender-neutral!
Phenomenally impressed with the soup and pie of the day. Sunshine , espresso martinis and some delicious bison pie Can’t wait to try their creative delicious specials in the future!
I decided to try this restaurant and had an amazing experience! Located inside the Remai Modern, which features stunning architecture, the setting is truly impressive. The restaurant itself is clean, modern, and welcoming. Our server, Marina, was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. We started with mussels and calamari, followed by fish and chips for the main course. The menu offers great value, and everything tasted fantastic! I’ll definitely return!

It's unfortunate that Shift has closed its doors. It had the most stunning views of any restaurant in Saskatoon.
On the final day of operation, the restaurant was overwhelmingly busy. Despite being short-staffed, the team put in a commendable effort to serve everyone. However, the food didn't quite meet the usual quality, likely due to the large number of customers and potential supply issues. I will truly miss this amazing restaurant; it boasts the best location in the city!
What a fantastic restaurant! It's a shame to see it leave Saskatoon. The menu features outstanding local options, and the staff are very knowledgeable. The ambiance is incredibly cozy, and the DJ played some great music too. I highly recommend it for an excellent dining experience!
We had a wonderful time yesterday at Shift during their happy hour and brunch. The atmosphere is fantastic, with a great view of the river. Savannah was our bartender and server—she was knowledgeable about the menu and made delicious drinks for us. Each of us enjoyed about two drinks, and they were excellent, which explains why we spent around $40-50 per person. I've recently started getting into cocktail making, and Savannah was kind enough to explain a few things and even share her bartending "Bible," The Cocktail Codex. Customer service was truly outstanding—10/10. As for the food, it was a solid, standard breakfast; I ordered the Breakfast Shift. While it didn’t blow me away, I might try other spots for brunch if given the chance. That said, I’m definitely interested in trying their dinner and dessert menus in the future.
We’re sad to say farewell to Shift. We enjoyed a fantastic meal and are grateful we were able to use our $150 in gift cards before they closed. If I hadn’t received the notification email on Friday, I would have missed the chance to use them.

Went out to try this restaurant and it was a fantastic experience! First of all, it’s located inside the Remai Modern which itself has a great architecture and definitely is eye-catching. The place was clean, modern and inviting. Marina, our server, was pleasant and attentive to our needs. We had the mussels and calamari for starters while fish and chips for the mains.Menu’s priced generously and it tasted delicious! I’ll definitely be back!
I was in a rush and wanted to grab a quick bite, Marina (server) recommended the roasted vegetable salad with an add-on. I gave it a try to the beef and it was the perfect combination: tasty, refreshing and tender beef. Totally recommended. Don’t forgetto visit the museum as well.
Brought my Grampa here for lunch and it was the nicest restaurant experience he’s ever had. The server was very kind, and the food was amazing. It was chic and modern, but also quiet. Perfect place for a special meal with Grampa. I also appreciated howclean the place was, and that they had individual bathrooms (accessible and gender-neutral!
