We had a memorable meal at XO Le Restaurant when we visited Montreal. The decor and service were top notch, which was to be expected for the range of pricing though ambiance was a bit too formal for our liking. My plate of foie gras was well plated, but what stole the show was the sea bass which was pan seared to perfection. Even years since we had this meal, we still reminisce about that pan seared fish! View all feedback.
What Brook Fritsch doesn't like about XO Le Restaurant:
Front desk staff very attentive . From front door to coat check. Maître D ok perhaps a bit chaotic as other couples were waiting for check in . Music was good and soft sound . Able to speak and be heard by other diner. Were not properly informed about flower and loot bag . The lady at the concierge was able to correct situation only after we left the restaurant. That was the only hiccup . Bathroom/ toilet on the top... View all feedback.
My partner and I ate here during the Formula 1 Grand Prix Weekend. Friends of ours had dined here before and highly recommended it, so we wanted to give it a try.The restaurant is in an old banking hall in the Hotel Saint James and is an utterly spectacular space. We were shown upstairs onto a balcony that overlooked the main dining floor and the chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. The space felt elegant and rich.Service was amazing - they had to bring everything up flights of stairs. A 3-piece jazz band was playing downstairs, but the volume was perfect - it added atmosphere without having to raise our voices to converse. We did the a la carte menu, although they offer a tasting menu and a vegetarian tasting menu. The dishes were innovative and attractively plated and the server-recommended wine pairing was really, really good.Highly recommend this restaurant for a special night out.
We have been at the XO and were really excited. We took the tasting menue with wine pairing and were absolutely convinced. 4 out of the 5 courses were simply perfect and would, no doubt on that, deserve a Michelin star. Moreover, the service was perfect and friendly and the location (it is a 19th century style hall) absolutely wonderful. Next time we are in Montreal we'll come back.
Had a business breakfast here this week, and wow - what a place! The restaurant looks to be a former ball room, and the detail & decor are spectacular!Service was kind, courteous and quick - servers avoided stepping in at inappropriate times, yet did a good job of filling coffee cups and providing food at the right temperature.I had the French Toast and it was incredible - my only complaint would be that there was only two pieces - a bit small for me, but probably OK for the average person.
Enjoyed our brunch! Not a US-style brunch buffet. Your table gets a bread and pastry platter, an appetizer plate for each guest, and a menu selection for each guest. This ended up being much more food than we anticipated. Nice efficient service.
My business associates made a reservation for 10 days ago. Final count ended up being eight people in attendance. It took 2.5 hours for us to get our entrees, in a sparsely populated restaurant. And XO didn't comp ONE THING despite making us wait until 10:45 to get our dinners, after seating us at 8:15. The food didn't come anywhere near making up for such surprisingly poor service. I can't recommend it at all, and while others dealt with the bill, I was still shocked that they still charged us every dime despite making us wait for an appallingly long time.I can't recommend a single thing about the experience.
