Contribute FeedbackJatoba restaurant in Montreal has received a mix of reviews from customers. Many have had negative experiences, with complaints about undercooked shrimp, disappearing waiters, noisy enclosed "patio," and improper service for the price range. One customer even arrived for a reservation to find the restaurant closed with no warning. However, there are also positive reviews praising the beautiful ambiance, top-notch service, and delicious food, including standout dishes like the snow crab rolls and wagyu dumplings. Overall, while some customers have been disappointed, others have had wonderful experiences and highly recommend Jatoba for a dining experience worthy of a special occasion.
Excellent restaurant from beginning to end. this restaurant is beautiful and the service was spectacular. the food is top-notch and the desserts bleed me away! when we visit this city, we come back!
Food was exceptionally good, although the portions were smaller than I expected. But the service was OUTRAGEOUSLY BAD. The waitress looked down on us from the beginning (she probably deemed us underdressed for not wearing heels or something, by the look on her face... and...it never got better. Besides her condescension, she straight up abandoned our table. I wanted to order something else but she ignored us for at least twenty minutes. By the time she got to us I was so annoyed that I just asked for the bill. I chose not to tip because well, the service was terrible, and when we were by the door she came back and let us know that the tip had not been included, and that it was usually 15%. I am not confrontational so I gave her 10% but I wish I had given her nothing for her rudeness. She completely ruined the experience, despite the delicious food.
We went there a Friday night early, around 5:30. Parking in downtown Montreal is not easy so it will be wise to use the valet parking service that the restaurant offers for $15. Since we got there early, we got a table in the back...solarium. It's a beautiful place, very much publicized by Instagram. The plants, the hanging lamps make it a very romantic place for couples. We ordered mostly appetizers with the shrimp fry rice. The food was average but very well presented. The only dish that stands out was the snow crab rolls. They were very yummy.
The service was chaotic and lacking efficiency. The least expensive bottle of wine is priced at 55. Despite this, the food was mediocre and did not meet the standards expected for the amount paid.
Really bad business practices. Made a reservation for 7pm tonight. Wanted to try their tasting menu which looked very good. When I got there, the restaurant was closed!! No sign, nothing. Also no message or email with any warning even though I had a confirmed...reservation! I understand business might be slow with the coronavirus situation, but no attempt to inform customers who have even made reservations?!?!?
