Instead, we were met with hostility, humiliation, and a shocking lack of basic human decency. We ordered a meal with two drinks. The woman at the counter, with black hair, seemed visibly angry and overwhelmed. Without a single word of courtesy, she grabbed our receipt out of our hands with aggression and gave us the wrong order. We had no idea it was incorrect, so we calmly sat down. What happened next was beyond disrespectful—it was deeply offensive. This same woman marched over to our table and began shouting at us in Russian. We do not speak the language, but the tone and volume were unmistakable: we were being scolded, blamed, and humiliated in public. No effort was made to communicate respectfully or explain the situation in a language we might understand. She refused to take responsibility for her mistake, demanded that we pay again, and made it painfully clear that we were not welcome. This felt more than just unprofessional—it felt personal. As foreigners, we felt targeted, unwelcome, and deeply out of place. Her behavior was not just rude, it was disgraceful. In a moment that restored a bit of faith, a kind local man sitting next to us stepped in and paid for the food himself, refusing to let us cover the cost. His generosity only highlighted the cruelty of the woman’s actions. This experience was more than just bad service—it was a cultural slap in the face. We came here open-hearted and curious, and were instead made to feel like outsiders who didn’t belong. What a shameful first impression of the city. We urge others to avoid this place.
