I've walked past this pub countless times, always assuming it was just a "student pub." How wrong I was! It actually features three distinct areas: a restaurant, a pub, and a café. The café offers a nice selection of cakes and coffee, while the bar has a great variety of Beavertown beers. I glanced at the restaurant menu, and it looked impressive as well. Good pub, is busy booking such a table in advance. good selection of coffee and tea, good selection of vegetarian, also
Lovely place, the building and decor is cool, with lots of plants. I've had take out coffee from here a couple of times now and the staff are all nice and friendly. There is indoor and outdoor seating. There's 2 outdoor areas, one you can access through the restaurant that is covered and has heaters with no smoking permitted, or there is a covered area round the back for smokers/people who are waiting for take out coffee. The coffee is excellent quality, the best I've had so far in Durham! They also serve plant-based milk alternatives, decaff coffee and different flavoured coffee syrups.
Lovely food, lovely service. Beautiful, Airy, plant-filled space. Great covered patio. Sunday roast was great for veg and meat-lovers alike. Sweets were divine. Coffee smooth and tasty.

The creative cakes are consistently amazing, showcasing seasonal ingredients without being overly extravagant. They also offer fantastic vegan options, from delicious sandwiches to full meals. It would be great to see them add vegan cakes to the menu, especially with so many students from Durham nearby. The service is friendly and nice, though perhaps not overly attentive. The prices are reasonable given the quality of the food. Kudos to the chef—the dishes are divine! I highly recommend the cauliflower with hummus, the mushroom toast, and the Muhammara dip. The Misto apple frangipane tart is possibly one of the best desserts I’ve ever had, and I hope to see it return to the menu, along with the flower tacos I enjoyed last summer, which were heavenly. All in all, it's a delightful dining experience in a lovely place!
