What User doesn't like about Utkal Misthan Bhandar:
Normally Utkal Misthan Bhandar maintains a good hygienic condition. But, when we visited this place this time, it was full of flies! They must ensure that the doors are kept closed all the time and/ or install a machine for repelling insects. Even the sweets were not spared. View all feedback.
Every time we go to Bhilai, we go to Utkal, as it is popularly known, on the first or second we reach Bhilai. We buy sweets and namkeens for our consumption in Bhilai. We also buy two samosa and eat it there. We also go to Utkal on the day we come to Mumbai or the previous evening. Our purchases include samosa, kachodi, chidwa mixture, kaju katli and gulab jamun/ kala jamun. We did the same shopping this time too. All these items are for our children at Mumbai. There was one addition, however. We packed two plates of dhokla for our own consumption at the airport. It was tasty.
We were returning from Mumbai. We had been to Indian Coffee House in sector 10 to have lunch even before going home. Whenever we visit sector 10 in Bhilai, we go to Utkal and buy something! So, after having lunch at Indian Coffee House, we went to Utkal. Of course, we needed milk and dahi. So, we bought these two items in addition to the sweets and the customary chiwda, a special type prepared only by Utkal. Then, we returned home.
The restaurant offers delicious Oriya dishes at a good value, with a comfortable seating arrangement. They also serve hot tea and coffee with courteous service and prompt attention to customers.
The restaurant named Utkal lacks the authentic taste of Odia desserts. The hospitality is lacking, cleanliness is not up to standard, and presentation of dishes is non-existent.
Utkal Misthan Bhandar, as the name implies, is a sweet shop from the state of Odisha in India. The desserts from this restaurant are not only renowned in Bhilai, but also in other locations where people from Bhilai reside. In addition, their samosas, kachodis, and other snacks are also quite popular. When we were traveling to Mumbai, we decided to buy some sweets that our children in Mumbai enjoy. We also grabbed some samosas and kachodis for the journey.
