Extremely poor steak ordered rib eye medium and it was over cooked (well plus) and dried out. When I complained replacement was offered but I was told it would be 15 20 mins. I was with others so I just had my chips and the veg. When it came to the bill my uneaten steak was included on the bill. When we queried it we were told “we don’t offer discounts”. When we asked to speak with the manager/owner the server returned to say the steak would be taken from the bill. As usual, it’s the fact that a night out was spoilt the food the others had was nice. The steak was so poorly prepared I am amazed a decent restaurant served it up.
Myself , husband and 3 kids ate here busy Saturdays eve, we couldn’t get a table anywhere except here.. which maybe speaks for itself: everywhere was packed except this restaurant. Firstly , I have to say the service was very good and the man serving us was very pleasant and professional. We ordered pasta bolognese for The 3 kids which wasn’t really bolognese at all I realised after trying it when my 8 year old Was starting the make the “yuck face”!! It was chilli con carne with penne. This is really why I feel Compelled to write A review: spag bol is a hard dish to get wrong! I had a curry which was ok at best (had sweet corn in it!? and my husband had fish and chips which was prob the best of the lot (Despite fish had been frozen . I feel bad writing a critical review but feel management needs to hear honest opinions.
I always wondered why the place was always empty. Now I know. A cardinal sin by a steak house they way overcooked my steak. Ordered medium, got well done. There is no excuse for that. Staff were pleasant but inexperienced. We won't be going back again.
Ordered chowder and fish pie,the brown bread with chowder was literally frozen,replaced with rock solid slices At this stage the half eaten chowder was cold and I didn't feel brave enough to persist with a kitchen having a bad day.The waiting staff were quite young and clearly still training,the manager did his apologetic best but really,if you mess up brown bread twice then you have a problem
We recently held an intimate event at Crews; our baby's naming ceremony followed by dinner. We were in the Malt Room which was just such a beautiful space, lovingly restored with high ceilings and gorgeous natural light. Bill took care of our every need and ensured everything went smoothly on the day. The staff were very attentive and did a great job! As for the food, Róisín delivered a beautifully executed menu and catered for all our personalised requests. Every course was delicious. Our guests were singing the praise of the staff and loved the space and the food. I would highly reccommend Crews for an event. The function spaces are truly a hidden gem. We will be back!
