Description

Austin's, a chip shop nestled in the charming village of Ballygawley, offers a diverse menu ranging from traditional fish and chips to contemporary dishes. While some diners praise the freshness and taste of the food, others critique the undercooked chips and overly crispy batter. Service experiences vary; while some staff members are friendly, others fell short of expectations. Though the prices lean on the higher side, patrons appreciate the clean ambiance and occasional standout dishes, such as desserts from Chef Nigel. Ultimately, Austin's remains a local fixture, embodying the bittersweet charm of this busy community.

Ballygawley village may be easily overlooked with fast-moving traffic and new infrastructure, but residents and visitors alike are proud of its charm. Just like the nearby Sperrins mountains, it holds hidden treasures such as trout in the river and unique items for sale at Suitor Gallery. Askin's restaurant offers hints of continental cuisine, adding to the appeal of this quaint village in the Clogher Valley. Surrounded by the lush green landscape of Ireland, a visit to Ballygawley leaves you with a satisfied appetite and a joyful spirit.

We went to Austin's for a meal and found the staff to be friendly and the place to be clean and tidy. The food was good, but on the pricier side. Overall, we would say that Austin's is a bit expensive.

Only chippy take out in this busy country town. For a Tuesday night had steady stream of customers. Everything freshly cooked and place spotless. I just ordered a chicken breast and some thousand island dip. The chicken was crispy skin but succulent flesh. Enjoyed it and at £4.90 is fair price. I will call again when in the area. Try it.
