we had a nice day at night, remembering hawaii! we sat outside and listened to the live musician. the drink I had was probably the best drink I ever had. it was spicy and sweet and asked me to have another! spicy kokosnusskolada. the food was good and the service was excellent. a very hip and cool place. Awesome little spot in downtown dunedin, upon arriving we were lucky to find parking in their little lot the is only about ten spots, but plenty of parking nearby. For seating outside/outback the wait time was about thirty minutes, but while waiting you can grab a drink and lounge near the front. Once seated the staff was attentive and friendly and the food/drinks were great! There was live music with added to the ambiance that is all around. Definitely an awesome ma/pa place and will be back!!
Great atmosphere and delicious drinks. Loved the exotica soundtrack before the live music started. Lots of mugs for sale we bought a couple mai tai glasses. Best tiki joint we went to in the area!
Since we “discovered” The Honu three years ago, we’ve made the tiki bar kind of a home away from home. The drinks are authentic tiki and extremely well made under the direction of bartender extraordinaire, Lisa. The food is excellent and reflects Chef Kim’s time on the Big Island. The entire staff is friendly and provides great service. We can’t recommend The Honu more highly.
What a great place for a relaxing evening and fantastic muchies. We felt we had gone to Maui! The drink menu had every possible rum concoction. Food menu consisted of a typical Hawaiian food truck selection. Live music with a steel guitar provided the Aloha spirit ambiance. Sit outside if at all possible on the porch surrounded by wooden tiki statues under a gigantic tree. Tiki Bar would have impressed Trader Vic or Don Ho. We learned every February they have a luau so when we return to the Tampa Bay area we will go in February!!!
As a lover of tiki culture, Honu checked all of my boxes for what I look for in a restaurant. Food and drink are delicious. Nice mix of traditional and contemporary options. Many of their drinks also come in actual tiki mugs which is always a fun touch. Staff are super friendly, the decor feels vintage, and their branding is on point. You can purchase a variety of branded and unbranded tiki schwag including tiki mugs, many of which I’ve never seen before in my years of collecting (and the prices are reasonable as well). Is also fun that they have ukulele night every Thursday, so you can chill and hear a local group of musicians play some fun music. There’s inside and outside dining, both of which have slightly different vibes, but are both super relaxing, and again tasteful in their design. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Definitely worth checking out.
