Sunburst Fried Chicken - Dumaguete City

I grew up in Iligan City where the original Sunburst Fried Chicken is still located. It has always been my favorite, even the esol was great! After a long absence, I discovered that Dumaguete also has a Sunburst branch, so I was excited to taste their chicken again. However, to my disappointment, it didn't taste the same as I remembered. The food we ordered was too salty, the vegetables were not fresh, and the kinilaw was overly sour. Overall, I was disappointed with the experience.

We previously tried the fried chicken at Sunburst in Ayala Center Cebu, so this time we decided to order dishes other than chicken. It was our first time visiting their branch in Robinsons Mall, Dumaguete. The Molo soup was the first dish to arrive, but it was a bit bland and the molo was chewy, not very good. However, the kinilaw na tanguigue that followed was delicious with a generous serving size. My partner ordered the "chicken cutlets," which were a tasty version of chicken nuggets and came with its own dip. I opted for the two-piece grilled pork chop, which was okay but slightly burnt and lacking in flavor. However, it was quite filling when paired with rice. Observing other tables, it seemed that more non-chicken dishes were ordered than chicken, indicating that locals in Dumaguete view Sunburst as a traditional Filipino restaurant rather than just a fried chicken spot, reserving KFC for that particular craving.

Desiring some fried chicken, our group of six hungry diners went to Sunburst Resto in Robinsons. And we were not let down. The service was fast and the beer was cold. The house chicken dishes were delicious and worth the price. The perfectly fried chicken dinner created great memories for our group of friends.

Unfortunately, this was not a good experience. For starters, the Air con was broke. The food took an hour to come, and it wasn't that tasty. On top of that, we had an entire meal missing along with a few missing drinks we had ordered. I recommend you visit Moon Cafe in the same center. They have better service, food, and it doesn't take forever to get the food you ordered.

The last time I visited and dined in this place, I wasn't satisfied. Now, food quality has improved and I just have a little comments on the food. Includes rice, 3pcs of potato fries, and coleslaw. Chicken for me is crisp but the meat lacks seasoning, the fries as well. Coleslaw? Not a fan of it Crispy Pata 368php Good price but a little small on serving, a bit chewy and its not that crispy. Grilled Tanguige 248php A good fish but lacks seasoning big time. Sunburst Sisig 220php No rice included but it was above average in taste. Calamares 248php Good appetizer, but not quite the best Ice Cream Shake 55php (chocolate) Literally tastes like Milo (local choco drink) (ube) Will definitely suggest this Buko Juice 38php Pure coconut juice
