I quite liked the vibe here yesterday evening. I met a friend for a quiet drink (my first time) and I was impressed at the atmosphere-chilled, nice lighting, great music all evening. The staff were friendly and the cocktails were delicious-I had the Lady Sam. That was the treat. Then back to wine, a Merlot that was reasonably priced and tasty. View all feedback.
What Mark D doesn't like about Sam's:
I ordered a non alcoholic beer and got charged €5.80! In what world can you justify this? When a Guinness costs less... What a joke. Screw non-drinkers. Change your prices asap. View all feedback.
Came here recently after spending a day charity fundraising on Grafton Street to meet a friend for an early evening catch up over some dinner and a cocktail. Sam's bar is a really lovely spot, if not a little expensive for a night out. Being located on Dawson Street this is to be expected though. Although it is usually absolutely jammed at night when we got here aitt about six on a Saturday evening it was pretty quiet and we took a seat in the sun in the outdoor seating area. Service was great with really attentive waitresses and we tried out a few of their cocktails with the burger sliders for dinner. The presentation of both was great! Sam's chunky chips were perfect, not greasy and tasted light and fluffy. The burgers were a tad on the dry side but still tasted good! I don't think their music selection would be to my personal preference for a night out in Dublin but as somewhere to catch up with friends for an hour or two at a quiet time, I would definitely be back! This is mainly because they were so accommodating in letting my dog who was fundraising with me all day snooze quietly under the table as we ate out the front in the sun, hugely appreciated as we were exhausted from a days hard work in the sun! For that they get the extra star ;
Awesome great bar on Dawson St, it's spacious but on a Fri/Sat night this place does be rammed. The food here is great plus this is also a really great pub to catch the sport, in particular a rugby match will always draw a nice crowd here, they have a big screen which you can see no matter where you sit due to the narrow long hall it is. Only downside here is the staff, they are hit and miss, at times I've had great service and friendly banter and then others, well it feels like you are inconveniencing them by even being in the bar never mind if they actually have to pour you drink. So a little bush up on the service and I'd be a happy camper leaving overtime.
Ahhh the lovely Sams bar, we popped into Sam's bar on Friday evening pre-dinner and I ordered a cocktail which was €11, which is affordable for Dawson st. Friendly but unobtrusive staff, bar was busy. Mixed age range which is great to see in Dublin. Hope to get food the next time as it looked and smelled delicious.
Popped in here for post dinner cocktails. There's a young crowd in here but a good vibe. I like the music and layout of the place. The cocktails are really good too. Their signature ones a different and really good. The smoking jameson could do with milder chillies though #feeltheburn
