We were part of a tour group that had just arrived in Dublin and we didn't want to go into City Centre or Temple Bar district for dinner. Roly's was just around the corner from our hotel and the Concierge recommended it. The food (rack of lamb and a steak) and dessert were delicious. The only drawbacks were the noise and the slow service caused by the Friday night crowd. Lots of families so must be a popular with the... View all feedback.
What Chris N doesn't like about Roly's Bistro:
Decent dinner and probably one of the better choices in the immediate area but as far as a taste to value to service and menu options I'll make the effort to venture out a little further next time. The duck wonton presentation was nice but duck was very salty and the wonton was overcooked. Grilled beef and chips asked for medium rare and it came medium well, with very dry chips. Service was very sporadic and if you n... View all feedback.
Great food! This was our favorite meal in Dublin. The restaurant is a little more classy than casual. We had the homemade pasta and the fish and chips. Both were great. We had a pear almond tart for dessert. Everything great would definitely return if ever in Dublin again.
We were there on a Thursday evening in August for a business dinner. The 8 of us enjoyed great wine and appetizers (starters) of duck wontons and bruschetta. Both were wonderful. The sauce that they serve with the duck wontons is amazing. We all had different main courses but most outstanding was the steak, similar to ribeye and the fish. I got halibut and another coworker had cod. Everything was delicious. We couldn't pass up desert so we shared all of them and my favorite by far was the cheesecake. I highly recommend this restaurant for the food, service, ambiance, location and variety.
Service was very sporadic and if you needed something you had to waive a server down as they never stopped to check on you unless you waved at them. Dessert was very good and the wine by the glass selection while limited was good. The terrace had a nice ambiance on a beautiful day. All in all an ok meal that didn't meet my expectations based on the price and reviews.
Really surprised how excellent and reasonably priced this was. On my first trip to Dublin I was braced for greasy chips and meat pies in sticky bars. This could not be more of the opposite! The room is bright and pleasant. I had two starters, the beet root salad, which was huge and featured red peppers, goat cheese, and pistachios. I had a second starter instead of an entree fish cakes. There were two good sized croquettes that were tasty and contained pickles. The dessert was to die for a raspberry roulade. Simply scrumptious. I had a glass of the house red (this is a wine bar) and it was very good. Skip the pub and check this out if you are in the Ballsbridge area.
Enjoyed this restaurant with excellent wine list. Lunch is light, maybe try bthewir delicious half roast vchichen if hungry? Desserts Devine. Friendly service is a shambles, not sure who is responsible for what.
