The ambiance is excellent, the decor splendid, the service a bit stretched, the food is too rich with heavy condiments for my taste. The greens in my plates were chopped without care and the prosecco at a price of circa 40euros came in a screw top bottle. Good place to impress but not necessarily for food. What Matthew Mac Gabhann doesn't like about Mama Yo:
Fantastic decor it’s made for instagram. We were a group of 8 and we had a big round table which was very social. The food was disappointing small portions and not much better than you get in a local Chinese takeaway. The place seemed understaffed those who were working avoided making eye contact with us when we wanted to get their attention. Overall, I won’t be rushing to go back. Have been wanting to try Mama Yo for ages! The interior is gorgeous and the ambiance on a Friday night was so enjoyable. Service was really good and staff are very helpful and friendly. So many great choices for starters, I highly recommend the vegetable spring rolls as they are the best I’ve tried! Also tried the soup dumpings which were pretty good. General Gau Chicken for main was tasty. Kung Po Chicken was good but was a bit cold when it arrived to the table. I was underwhelmed with the dessert options so didn’t get any, but the rest of the food made up for it. Overall a really nice dining experience, but after a second visit I would say that there are nicer places with better food and better prices in Dublin. Probably not quite worth the hype in my opinion .
Busy spot but very good Service: Dine in Price per person: €40–50
