Although the new bar looks good, they 've lost some of the charm of the old place. Now have to wait to be seated and it 's more a restaurant than bar. Been here... read more Although the new bar looks good, they 've lost some of the charm of the old place. Now have to wait to be seated and it 's more a restaurant than bar. Been here 3 times since it was reopened and overall it 's been disappointing. First time we went and ordered food in the evening. Another 40 mins later we asked for an update only to be told they had forgotten the order as the waitress who took the order clocked off. The 'Pad Thai ' was average with soft prawn crackers. It 's not a Pad Thai by the way so should probably call it something like Thai noodles. Second time I got the roast beef during lunch time. Service was good and food was good with a large portion but the place was empty enough so expected it. Third time we sat down, I got the bacon and cabbage. I 'd have been disappointed if this was a child 's portion it was that small. There were about 3 spoons of cabbage on the plate. Food did taste good though. Service was non existent to the point that I just got up and ordered at the bar. They collect empty glasses but don 't ask if you want another. Asked for a menu again as I was hungry after my tiny dinner but once again they forgot, so had to ask a second time. Took another 20 minutes for a dessert to arrive that needed very little prep. I don 't like to take the gloss off a place but it was frustrating waiting all the time. I do hope service improves and perhaps different chefs give different portions but the day seems better than the evening from initial impressions. Maybe they need more staff to handle the crowd but you can see service struggling even when it 's not a full bar. I will return and I will be happy to change my review as I want to support local but right now it needs improvement.
