I sat down and loo... read more Yesterday 10/06 at around 14.40 I sat down at the tables outside this establishment, and was waiting for a friend so we could order together. I sat down and looked at my phone to check where they were, when suddenly someone violently banged on my table several times. I was really startled and confused, and suddenly saw this clerk staring angrily at me saying I couldn't be there. I explained, in German, that I was waiting for a friend and would come in a minute to order. He kept shouting at me, and I stayed there in shock, and repeated I would come in a minute and had the intention to order but was waiting for a friend, and we would order together. He left then for a moment, and I was very dazed trying to understand how someone could treat a customer (or even a potential customer) in this way. The tables around me were mostly empty, I certainly wasn't keeping anyone else from sitting, nor was I in any way disturbing anyone. This was really random. I thought that was it, but less than 5 minutes later the same clerk came again looking at me angrily and shouting I needed to leave. I was really upset at this point of being treated in this way, so I asked him why was he talking to me like that, why had he banged on the table, how was I supposed to order after being treated in this way?! I said again I was waiting for my friend, that there was no problem there, many places were available and I wasn't bothering anyone. He kept shouting like some madman, and I asked what was his problem and if he was crazy, and suddenly other few people sitting on one of the other tables also were looking at him, so again he left, but kept staring at me angrily and with disgust. I was absolutely shocked how could someone act in such a vile manner to someone else. Of course I understand the rule of the tables being only for customers, but this violent attitude is not appropriate to anyone. If he had explained it to me calmly I would have gone and ordered, but the first interaction we had was this lunatic banging on my table. Who does that?! Suddenly someone else sat on another table, with food from a different place (and mind you these tables are not clearly labelled as belonging to BackWerk, and he came again, but with a completely different tone, and just explained that the tables were for backwerk clients only and was nice to her. I felt so embarrassed and genuinely discriminated against by this horrible man. And of course when my friend came, and both of us saw how he continued to stare at us with anger and disgust, we ended up just going somewhere else. I was so angry and desolated from this. The situation has impacted me very negatively since. I couldn't even sleep and I feel sick to my stomach. This is despicable and no one deserves to go through such a thing. I really cannot understand how someone would ever find this appropriate. At no point did this man even consider his actions, his tone or his attitude. Beyond being a customer or not, I am a human being, and I felt completely stripped of that at this moment. I wrote to BackWerk on their website, despite not knowing this man's name, but shared the details described here. I haven't gotten a reply, so I thought I should leave this review for anyone who considers this space to be aware of how violent they can be towards people for no good reason. This is one of the franchises I have most gone to in Germany since I moved here some years ago, and never had anything other than nice experiences. I am baffled by this situation. Today, I bought some deserts from this place, the woman behind, supplying the sandwiches and desserts , wearing NO gloves, was with her hands all over the plunders, muffins etc. Now, how d we know as clients the hygiene of your newly employed ? Putting ur hands in all those foods without knowing what that woman’s hygiene is. Is unacceptable! Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3
