I reviewed this restaurant nine months ago and thought it was amazing. However, when I went last week, the tamales were not the same. They had very little meat, and the masa was dry.
This great bakery offers a wonderful selection of delicious Pondusa breads. It's a Mexican bakery that also serves menudo.
Ponce’s Bakery is simply the best in the west! The owners and staff are incredibly polite and friendly. They go above and beyond to assist customers, especially those with physical disabilities. The bread is always fresh, and everything they offer is absolutely delicious. Plus, their prices are very reasonable. Ever since I discovered this bakery in 2020, I haven't stopped coming back. I wouldn't choose anywhere else!
Ponce's is located in a strip mall, and parking can be quite challenging, but don’t let that deter you; just find a spot and head inside. The place is small and can get a little warm, but that’s easy to overlook. This is an incredible Mexican bakery that also serves a variety of food. We’ve tried numerous items and haven’t found a single thing we didn’t enjoy. The cookies with sprinkles are delightful, and you absolutely must try the watermelon cookies—they're not overly sweet and truly wonderful. They also offer a selection of bread and all the typical items you’d expect from a full-service bakery. However, the highlight of Ponce's is undoubtedly their tamales. Made fresh on-site, they offer a few different varieties, and both the pork and chicken options are absolutely delicious. The service is incredibly friendly, and if the owner isn't around, you might meet his brother, who is equally nice. You’re sure to love this place!
This charming family-owned Mexican bakery offers a delightful selection of fresh pan dulce and homemade tamales! The bread is baked fresh every day, ensuring it's always soft and delicious, with a wide variety to choose from. I could easily spend hours just browsing the offerings! They have everything from breads and muffins to coffee cakes and cookies. The tamales are also made fresh daily and tend to sell out quickly, so it's best to arrive early or consider placing an order in advance if you know you'll need some. I'm not certain if they offer sweet tamales (though I believe they do), but they do have delicious options like chicken, pork, and cheese. The champurrado is excellent as well—served piping hot and full of flavor. #SupportLocalBusinesses #Downey
