What Christian Kammerman doesn't like about Doubletree Suites By Hilton Conference Center Chicago-downers Grove:
I stayed for a conference. The room was nice. The AC in the banquet room rattled so loud it was impossible to hear the guest speaker despite the microphone he used. The chicken was undercooked. My silverware was dirty and sticky. Th wallpaper was pealing. View all feedback.

My room comes with an ice bucket, so presumably I can go get ice. NO, I CANNOT!The problem is that the ice is only on the 5th floor, but I am on the 2nd floor. Since my keycard is for a different floor, I cannot take the elevator to the 5th floor to get ice since you must swipe your keycard and can only go to your assigned floor (what if you have a friend or family member on another floor??? . My option is to walk up 3 flights of stairs for a single bucket of ice. This is stupid from many angles. First, every floor should have an ice machine. Period. Second, if you are a guest, your keycard should allow you to go to other floors. Seriously, this is really stupid. I will not be coming back to this hotel again.Food drinks: Breakfast is not included in this hotel.Noteworthy details: Don't expect to get ice unless you are on the 5th floor.
Ladies and gentlemen. While the location is pretty good and the cleanliness is decent. This hotel is very dated (old). The look is old. The feel is old. The fridge and microwave are a nice touch but the service is horrible. Check is at 3. We arrived at 3:45 and my room was not available until 5 and the hotel is practically empty.I called front desk about my television remote at 10:15 p.m. The guide on the remote was not working. The person who answered the phone said she didn’t know anything about that and couldn’t help me. I asked for the manager she said there was no manager right now. I asked what time the manager would be in on tomorrow she said she didn’t know. So I said am supposed to not be able to access the tv guide all night. She proceeded to tell me that I could just use the arrows to scroll through the channels. I asked then how am I supposed to know what’s on she said she had no answer. This same young lady could not help me when I wanted to purchase some water stating that she’s new and this is just her second job. Also, my tub has a drip, there are water stains in the ceiling. The bed pillows are the smallest I’ve ever seen in my 54 years of life. The pictures are completely deceptive which is why I guess they don’t really show you good pictures of the rooms on the website.Oh and did I mention I was not given my cookie. My suggestion is try to frequent the Doubletree that is near the golf course. It is much more professional, clean and is in a nice location. That is where we normally stay but wanted to try this one as it’s a little closer to our conference venue. We won’t make this mistake again.
Good location. Upon check in, the front desk staff only gave us (2) cookies for a family of four. I've never visited a DoubleTree where they rationed the cookies. The room was just okay. The living room space with the pull out sofa was very small as was the bathroom. The tub drained very slowly when using the shower. Tub was worn you could tell that it was old. Hospitality staff could do a better job with cleaning and paying attention to details like dusting all surfaces and cleaning the mirrors. I stayed at another DoubleTree in Detroit two years ago and have the same complaints. Seems to be the standard. When checking out the attendant was not very helpful when questions were asked. I also witnessed this when another guest came up to ask her a question. Customer service didn't seem to be the focus. I would not revisit this DoubleTree.
