I had a disappointing experience at the restaurant. When the server brought me my meal of collard greens and mac and cheese, the container of collards spilled on the counter. Instead of using a utensil, he simply placed his bare hands in the mess and tried to put the food back into the container. Not only was that unappetizing, but also concerning, considering the counter might not have been clean. My main worry is that if he handled my food this way in front of me, I can only imagine what might be happening in the kitchen behind the scenes. This experience has made me decide I need to start preparing my own meals.

I recommend avoiding this restaurant altogether. It's often empty for a good reason, and I honestly don't understand why it's still open. Their operating hours are inconsistent; you might show up during posted hours only to find the doors closed. Additionally, a significant portion of their menu is unavailable. They don't even offer basic items like brown stew chicken, which makes me question what other simple dishes they claim to have but don't actually serve. The menu inside has listed prices but warns that they aren't accurate. Overall, the place feels unprofessional, has a terrible smell, and I waited 20 minutes without anyone at the counter, only to find out that their menu doesn’t reflect what they actually offer. Save yourself the trouble and choose a different restaurant.

I just want to share my experience. When I walked in to pick up a DoorDash order, I was immediately greeted by an unpleasant odor. The entire establishment smelled like a house with numerous cats; the stench alone made me question the quality of the food they were preparing. It was truly off-putting.

Loved their smothered chicken, fried whiting, collard greens, and rice/peas. Food was delish!

Food sucks now and they reduced their hours. Find a better place for authentic AND good soul food. This ain’t it.
