Harpers Cafe - Douglas

My husband and I enjoy dining at small, family-owned restaurants. During a short visit to Douglas, we decided to try this place based on positive reviews. Unfortunately, we were disappointed and won't be returning. We opted for the lunch buffet but ended up not finishing most of our meals. The chicken was decent, but the other dishes were not up to par. The broccoli was overcooked and mushy, the mac and cheese was overdone and lacked flavor, and the rolls were served cold. While the staff was friendly, the food was a letdown considering the price. It's a shame as it had the potential to be a great spot.

I am from Florida but attended SGSC for school. This was my go-to spot while in college - some of the best soul food around!

The food at this restaurant was surprisingly delicious. However, the service was disappointing. The staff seemed like they were bothered by having to help customers. If the service had been better and more friendly, it could have been a 4-5 star experience. I recommend trying the Breakfast Plate. The price per person for a meal is between $10 and $20. The dining experience is best for breakfast.
