Thank you for this wonderful experience, from the warm welcome to the delicious food and the beautiful setting. See you soon!
While passing through Douai, we discovered this place online and after reading the reviews, we decided to give it a try. It was a real treat: the tuna brik, the couscous, the lamb tagine, and even the tea!
Service and atmosphere were very good. Quality/price ratio too high. Exorbitant drink prices: €10 for a non-alcoholic cocktail (just a simple fruit juice available in bottles at the supermarket) €28-€32 for a bottle of Moroccan/Algerian red wine, available for €8 at Auchan Royal couscous at €32: 1 lukewarm and slightly burnt merguez sausage 1 piece of low-quality chicken 1 piece of reheated mechoui (roast lamb) 1 acceptable lamb skewer, nothing special Vegetables and broth Average cost of the meal (1 course) with drinks (1 cocktail and 2 glasses of wine) €50 Tea wasn't even offered at the end of the meal… Price paid: double what it's worth.
If you're looking for a place to eat, look no further. The reputation and reviews on various platforms are a testament to the quality of the food. For my part, I had the royal couscous, which was very generous, with a large portion of semolina, a sauce with vegetables, and a selection of high-quality meats (merguez sausage, chicken, mechoui, and kebabs) that melted in my mouth and were lean. The staff was pleasant and attentive, and the place was very welcoming, calm, and beautifully decorated. Excellent value for money. I highly recommend it and thank all the staff at Baloua.
