At this restaurant, guests experience a mix of triumphs and shortcomings. While the ambiance impresses with its beautiful decor and lively atmosphere, the quality of dishes remains inconsistent. Highlights include the highly praised short rib shepherd’s pie and delicious truffle fries, with some suggesting the crab fries should become a permanent menu fixture. However, concerns regarding over-seasoning and portion sizes have been noted, with a few diners experiencing dissatisfaction. While many appreciate the attentive service, there are reports of rudeness and miscommunication in the past. Overall, the restaurant holds promise, inviting exploration amidst varying dining experiences.

What Nia Morissette dislikes about Barrows House:
I ordered the prime rib special. It only came in medium rare, which is fine. When it arrived, it was very rare. Asked to cook it further and a completely different piece of meat came. When I questioned, they swore up and down it was the same. Not even close. It was half the thickness. Staff (we ate at the bar so two bartenders served us) were horrible. Plenty of combative attitude and lying about the prime rib cut. T... View all feedback.

Always a favorite but hadn’t been since early summer 2022. Specialty drinks were ordered but subpar. Ginger beer was flat and in second drink bourbon was overwhelmed by specialty syrup. Brewster beer on tap was a hit and we all switched to that before the evening was over. Appetizers ordered: tuna nachos 5 on the plate $18 Crispy Cauliflower $14 or $18? . Flavors were good but size was small for the price. Entrees ordered were short rib shepards pie and that was 5 star. Well worth the price $38 . Very underwhelmed by the fall risotto $34 Squash risotto was underseasoned with roasted chippolini served cold on the warm risotto brussel sprouts undercooked and mushrooms. Presentation was lovely but the combo was completely unsatisfactory. Bill for 4 adult diners was $268.83 before tax. I’ll wait until the patio opens next summer to try again…

The food was excellent, and the service was friendly. Just like our first visit, it was a great experience. This is definitely one of the best restaurants in the area.
