I visited this place to buy a Christmas tree and really enjoyed it! I come from a family that has a tradition of getting a tree, so I chatted with the man who I believe said his father owned the place. He was really friendly, gave us a discount, and helped us load the tree into the car. We paid £45 for a huge tree that filled our bay window. It was about 6ft 5in tall and around 5ft wide. The tree lasted until New Yea... View all feedback.
What tommee2 doesn't like about Mccallums Farm Shop:
What should/could be a superb place to visit is basically an overpriced low quality outlet trading on what some people see as 'high end ' Better can be had in low cost supermarkets. View all feedback.
When this farm shop opened it was great veg and fruit service was always never with a smile Nice cheeses at Christmas time the last lot of veg I bought was not fresh cut into my onions and were black and soggy so never bought veg or fruit again Will always buy my cheeses as they are fresh and they do a lovely tomatoe sauceage Price reasonable but the prices in the shop for other products are too overpriced I've gingerbread man biscuit X 1 £3.95?? Hope she gets to sell them Old woman owner) just would not hurt to crack a smile for 2018
After many lovely breakfasts at Mccallums and pleasant visits to the farm shop we were left a little dissapointed. We normally have had excellent service and good quality food. However on Friday this was not the case, we waited at our table and then waited at the counter in the cafe and it took almost 10 minutes to be acknowledged let alone to be served. All it would have taken would to have been acknowledged, while we realised the lady on the counter was new we felt she needed a bit more support. When the breakfast arrived it was arranged poorly and was not pleasing to the eye. We had considered going to another cafe prior to this visit but we decided on Mccallums, unfortunately the breakfast was more of a £4.50 intake breakfast than £6.50 'Farmhouse '. It was sad given the excellent experiences we have had in the past. We hope this is just a blip as we went well out of our way to Mccallums.
Butcher knows his stuff and always has good selection of meat. Cafe has delicious fry up for acceptable price, sometimes the specials menu has yummy food. Good friendly staff. Baby change facility is good area, toilets always clean
We have had quite a few meat orders from here always top quality for roasts and BBQ.some exotic meats for variety.Fresh veg is always good and good selection. pies and pickles in deli section. The full English breakfast takes some beating-get stuck in. highly recommended. 5 star
We visit regularly for breakfast. At face value places that offer a 'eat as much as you like for £3.99 ' deal appear a cheaper option, but when you factor in the price of tea and coffee there 's little difference. The food is cooked to order and is always hot, tasty and plentiful. The café is not elegant the farm shop and café are next to three fishing lakes, and customers are often fishermen and contractors from nearby works. It 's a good, no frills kind of place. My only quibble is that there is no veggie breakfast item, and you pay the same the for meat free as with meat. One used to be able to swap one item for another, but now you can 't you have to pay extra and have to items you don 't want as well as any extras. As each breakfast is freshly prepared I can 't really understand this policy. We 've never had lunch there, but the menu looks fine. If you 're in the area I would certainly recommend for a good breakfast to start the day.
