This is one of the smaller service stations along the A26 but still offers a shop, restaurant and a Paul café. Staff were friendly and polite even when on their break. Service was efficient and we had accidently forgotten our drinks as part of the breakfast take-away deal and a member of staff brought them out to the car park. The facilities were clean and modern. What arbuthnottc doesn't like about Arche Aire Du Poulet De Bresse:
A quick stop on a long drive to the UK. We love the local chicken, and thought to try it at this Autoroute rest stop. All the facilities are modern and nice. The food is good, and nicely presented. The service is charming and cheerful. What a shame that the hot food is cold! It appears that they must be economising on the hot tables that were supposed to keep this lovely food at a good temperature. When I went back t... View all feedback.

Well, you know what they say: all of those highway restaurants are more or less the same, but I guess we have found the proverbial exception at Le Poulet de Bresse. I have to say the place is very charming and inviting. With lots of light and friendly people working there. The place has a nice shop which offer some local specialties (yes, you can buy the famous Bresse chicken there! , next to typical products you expect to find in such a place. The restaurant offers a nice selection: pasta, meat (including chicken, of course! , vegetables, salads, pastries, desserts, ice cream,... I tried the tajine with chicken, which was actually good value for money. The chicken was very tender. A decent and rather tasty meal for only about ten euros. Nothing to complain about. The restrooms were very clean, an extra plus. We will definitely stop here again, when passing by.
Been here for a warm meal when we were on our way home after vacation. Plates, forks and knifes were not properly cleaned. We had the 1/4 chicken with frites and some carrots and jambon with frites . The frites and carrots were almost cold, the chicken was warm but dry and more bones than chicken. Considering what we had to pay €14,90 per 1/4 chicken and €9,90 per jambon) and the absolute poor quality of the food... it was a waste of our money. It is for sure that we will never visit this place again.

It appears that they must be economising on the hot tables that were supposed to keep this lovely food at a good temperature. When I went back to check, the heating surfaces were not even turned on. So, a rating that would otherwise be at least a 4 is only just a 2. It was suggested that I might want to warm up the food in a microwave. No, not really the same thing at all. Shame!
Highway restaurants offer usually an adequate meal for people that are traveling. However this restaurant offers something special which is the famous the poultry from the Bresse region. According to some sources, it is the place where the highest quantity of Bresse chicken is consumed. Prices are rather high (ca. 20 EUR half chicken) and are served with vegetables. The restaurant has a large number of visitors. Large inconvenience is the limited number of parking space. At rush hours and in Summer it is often difficult to find a free space!
