What Ryland McNutt doesn't like about B L Convenience:
Small little store. Not much selection. Staff is not very friendly. When I was in I was made to feel like I bothered them being there to buy stuff. Due to it being a small store the prices are a bit higher. Unless I have no options I doubt I will stop into the store again. View all feedback.
Keep an eye out along Route 8 for the large moose statue which greets you from the front lawn of the quaint little restaurant resembling a log cabin. If you ever happen to find yourself hungry in Doaktown, New Brunswick, be sure to stop here. There aren 't too many options for dining along this stretch of road, but even if there were, I would still choose B&L. My mom and I took a road trip to visit family in northern New Brunswick. Along the way, we noticed this little restaurant with an attached convenience store. After driving for many miles it was time to stop for lunch, so we decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised. A very kind and friendly man greeted us as we walked in the door. We had our choice of seating as it was in-between peak mealtimes. There are a few booths by the large front windows and an additional dining room off to the side. The dining room was closed and most likely opens on weekends or for dinner to accomodate a higher volume of diners. You can walk right through the restaurant to access the convenient store as well. It 's a no-frills and somewhat dated setting with knotty pine wood paneling and red vinyl booth seating, but yet is charming, clean, and inviting. I admired the owner 's collection of fish memorabilia in honor of the nearby Mirmachi River and it 's famous reputation for salmon fishing. Salmon knick-knacks and other collectibles covered the walls to add the perfect touch to the restaurant 's woodsy, log cabin feel. It was a bit warm inside the restaurant, but a fan was circulating near the tables to help make the room a little more comfortable. The menu consists of homecooking/comfort food options for both lunch and dinner including sandwiches, burgers, soups, and much more all at reasonable prices. On our first trip through Doaktown, I chose the chicken strip platter and my mom chose the hot turkey sandwich. We enjoyed our first visit so much that we actually stopped in at B&L a few days later on our way back home. I had the hot turkey sandwich this time around since my mom had raved about it. On the second visit my mom had a chicken sandwich which she said was very good. I enjoyed every bite of that delicious hot turkey sandwich and it felt like Thanksgiving in August. I wish that I could remember the man 's name who we met on our first visit. He seemed to be covering as host, server, store clerk, and cook that day, but performed each job very efficiently and with a smile. We placed our order and everything was served up quickly. He told us he has been cooking at B&L for about 35 years and seemed to truly enjoy his career. On our return trip we met another host/server/store clerk. She was also very friendly and efficient as well. Our lunches at B&L were two of the best meals during our road trip and we will definitely keep this place on our radar next time we are driving through New Brunswick.

I ate here a few times though out the years. I never had a complaint. Although ots been a few years, i have been in for other things, the building looks clean and relatively untouched.
