Excellent 5 step lunch and good wine. The staff is very friendly and always willing to help and accommodate. The wine could be better, this is a Winery on the right path. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Bodega Melipal:
The wineyard tour and wine are very good. So is their staff and lunch with wine tasting. Melipal's tour, as most of wineyards in Mendoza, should make private and intimate tours and lunchs. We had the tour with another couple, but during the visit our guide had to be replaced by another one due to a problem with a brazilian group of 18 people who claimed to have a reservation but actually didn't have, since small wine... The wineyard tour and wine are very good. So is their staff and lunch with wine tasting. Melipal's tour, as most of wineyards in Mendoza, should make private and intimate tours and lunchs. We had the tour with another couple, but during the visit our guide had to be replaced by another one due to a problem with a brazilian group of 18 people who claimed to have a reservation but actually didn't have, since small wineyards don't do big groups tours. After we ended the tour our lunch became a hell since the manager decided yo allow the group to have lunch in the wineyard. It looked like we're in a pub during a soccer match. We felt disrespected and the experience, that should be sublime, was really awfull.
We read the reviews on line and marked it as a must do. Booking on line was easy, and we booked the degustation menu with matching wines, wine tour provided for free.We were told they didn't arrange transport. When we got to Mendoza the hotel advised that the cost from down town Mendoza was $160 Australian $, as the driver had to wait with us as no taxi would go there. Reality was it was only a 25 minute drive so not sure why Taxis don't service this are ?. We debated if we should go or not as expensive- we decided to go, and glad we did as it was one of our highlights. The location beside the Andes is amazing. Mountains were snow covered, grounds with pampas and flax were beautifully laid out to complement the vines. This parcel of land was once 8 vineyards made into one in the early 2000's. The restaurant is small, beautifully fitted out, 8 tables only which is why you need to book in advance, and very personal service. The food is done by a master chef and perfectly paired with the wines. Top marks sommelier and chef !! After a five course lunch we were taken on a tour and tasting. Amazing. Thoroughly recommend to all.
We are big fans of Melipal wines across the line, but really love the brand label Malbec made 50/50 with old vines and newer vines. Also, lunch at the winery is sensational, 4 to 5 courses matched with best wines, delicious lomo, great views of the Andes Mountains. Located on Route 7, the highway to Chile, it's only about a 30 minute drive from Mendoza City. Definitely need a reservation for lunch
The bodega tour was very good, the setting is nice, the restaurant food is average, I think the chef focus on decoration rather flavor, and the pairing was not done well. It is expensive for what they offer compared with other restaurants in Mendoza. The wines in my view are not the best. The restaurant and bodega views are very nice.
