Nestled in a quaint storefront, The Fishouse stands out for its expertly fried fish dishes, notably the catfish and blackened shrimp, drawing praise from visitors. While the seafood shines, side dishes tend to falter—often criticized for being bland, undercooked, or overly processed. Popular items like mac and cheese and cabbage have left some diners disappointed. Despite uneven experiences, the vibrant atmosphere and excellent service encourage a visit, particularly for seafood enthusiasts seeking value. With affordable prices and generous portions, this charming eatery is a must-try for anyone in the DMV region craving fresh fish.

I ordered dinner through GrubHub and went to pick up my order, only to find a sign stating that the restaurant is permanently closed.

The Fishouse excels at preparing fish dishes, but falls short when it comes to their side dishes. Their sweet potatoes, for example, are pureed with a sugary topping that could be improved by baking it to achieve a crispy brown finish. The cabbage is noticeably undercooked, while the cole slaw is better cooked but still lacking. On multiple occasions, I received raw french fries, leading me to believe that cooked sides are not a priority for this restaurant. The mac and cheese is also disappointing, with pasta mixed with a processed cheese product and served in a plastic container as if it skipped the baking stage. Despite these shortcomings, the fish at The Fishouse is the best in the DMV region, making it worth a visit as long as you seek out your sides elsewhere.

I ordered a bbq chicken salad, onion rings, whiting, Mac and cheese, cabbage, and a black bean burger at this restaurant and it was a terrible experience. I felt like I wasted my money. The black bean burger was essentially a messy scoop of black beans on wheat bread that was both poorly put together and tasted awful. The salad had pickled sun-dried tomatoes that were overpowering and made the salad taste like vinegar. The onion rings were soggy and falling apart. The fish was the only decent part of the meal. The Mac and cheese tasted processed and unappetizing, and the cabbage had an overwhelming amount of bell peppers in it. I am extremely disappointed, especially since I used Uber Eats to order. It took an hour to receive my food, and I will never be ordering from this restaurant again.

Placed an order on Uber eats for pickup. 2 minutes after the order was placed it said the order was completed. I never even left the house lol so I?m not sure how the order was completed so quickly. Now I?m short $25 and still need to find something to eat.Ya just steal peoples money? That?s crazy.

Went around 930ish on a Friday night. Purchased two dinners 1 was a whitting dinner with cabbage and Mac. Second dinner was a croacker dinner with greens and Mac. First off let's start by saying you couldn't tell which tray was whiting and which wascroaker mind you both containers had 4 or more curled up pieces of fish. The greens and cabbage both tasted like they poured awhole bottle of vinegar in the pan while cooking with no seasoning. The mac and cheese was ok. The whiting meal was 17.99 andthe croaker was suppose to be 21.99 but I was changed 22.99 maybe it was because they gave me extra pieces which they could havekept. I wanted bone fish and the fish was definitely boneless ????. I had food from them a while back and the food was bomb I'mnot sure what happened.
