We took another family trip here because we wanted to try again after a bad experience many years ago. The area is so lovely and the old memories of it just wouldn't let go. So glad we gave it another shot. We fell in love with the place again. Whew! Therooms have been *slightly* updated, and the cleaning staff had done a wonderful job with what they have. I have includeddetailed photos. The front desk staff was wonderful. The stable staff was wonderful. The dinner wait staff was wonderful. Bedswere very comfortable. It was a quiet night with no noise from neighbors noted. The refrigerator worked well. The bathroom wasnot worthy of a bath, but fine for a shower. It looks like they tried to reglaze the tub and it is coming off. The caulkingappeared pretty new. No mold/mildew to speak of. The floors were clean (both the vinyl plank and carpeting). Enough outletsavailable for everyone to charge a phone. Climate control worked well. Security on sliding glass door was an extra slider whichwas a welcome addition, and the front door now had a chain (which was missing on our last trip many years ago). We are excitedto plan our next trip back. I recommend staying in the Blue Ridge building, it was the Meadows building previously that was anawful experience.
Had not been to eat there in over 2 years. The atmosphere was great but the food has gone from excellent to fair at best. The fried chicken was very dry, the cabbage casserole was raw, and the potatoes were hard! Price had gone up to $26.95 per person. Not a good experience. The room we stay in was great! Very nice.
Great service, people, and room is super. Staying in the Smoot House (like a mother-in-law room) which is connected to the main house. Kitchen is 50s style, tiny, and the smoke alarm goes off 4 to 5 times while cooking since there is no vent in kitchen. We love it though and enjoy it a lot. The view of mountains are terrific. We have been staying at the Dillard House for about15 years. 5 stars, even though not perfect.
We have eaten here probably 50 times in the past. This time (breakfast) they didn't have the pastry area, any of the relish type stuff on the tables. We waited at least 20 minutes to get served while people all around us that came in after us were alreadyeating. We also had to ask more than once for refills. It used to be that you were barely seated and the food was brought out.The price has also gone up considerably. It is not nearly the treat to eat here as it used to be. We were a party of 4 adultsand 2 kids. Very disappointing.
Stayed 3 nights and fridge didn't work reported it and nothing. Called back the next day still nothing . Knobs on sink all wrong . Boil water advisory we was not informed about. So we brushed our teeth and made coffee before finding out . Really going downhill. Have stayed here for years and this was the worst experience of all . Was offered 10%off. Wouldn't recommend paying theprices for the luxury you expect and want get .
