The hotel was criticized for being outdated and lacking accessibility for those with disabilities. However, others praised the hotel staff and accommodations, highlighting the scenic views and friendly service. With some improvements, both establishments have the potential to attract more guests and provide a better experience.
Arrived at got our dinner at Had to leave for the theater at Wolfed down dinner had to take dessert with us. Late to our seats. Waitress seemed timid and inexperienced. Half way thru act before I settled down
We were a table of four. One other table of two in place which could seat about fifty. Half the menue items were not available. i,e. no steak or chicken. We will not go back
Service was great; food a little pricey for portions sizes and not quite "up to par" Decor could use some updating.. Overall not bad but probably wouldn't go back
Well, when we went we weren't staying at the hotel...I had a voucher and the place was nice enough. The staff didn't have much to do, and you could tell. We were walking over to Chene Park after. I food arrived on time and pretty decent. The portions were good. The staff's knowledge of food was a bit limited as I asked about zip sauce with the steak and she had no clue what I meant. No big deal. IF there were more patrons it'd be quite the nice bar scene given it's Riverfront location and seclusion. It could also be quite romantic because it IS in a boutique hotel in downtown Detroit. I think it is quite underutilized and could definitely be raking in more money if they put some effort/money/advertising into it
Roberts Riverwalk Bistro has possibly the best location in the city for a restaurant right on the Riverwalk if they had competent management. How did they fail? Let me count the ways: minutes to get a drink Chasing down the waitress to order The waitress had no idea what beverages they had which further delayed things It was clear that she had never really been trained and there was no manager in sight The menu itself is that of a glorified burger joint Food was brought out late and cold. It was evident it was left for a long period of time and not under a heat lamp Had to walk inside to get ketchup for our fries and burgers Half the diners had real wine glasses and half had plastic. We ended up with plastic. Average delay between waitress showing up at our table to see if we needed anything was about minutes When she brought back my credit card with the bill she hovered over me while I wrote up the tip, holding my card in her hand until she received the bill back The facility decided that Friday night was a good night for Karaoke instead of bringing in a good band or background music At the end of the day, the bones of the facility and the location are both beautiful. It would be a shame if they didn't get competent management in to run the operation properly
