Alt... read more We thought this was apple strudel after dinner in another restaurant. There was only one other table of guests and only one waitress, a young brunette girl. Although it was obvious that we don't speak their language, we could say one and apple strudel in terrible German, so they understood. The apple strudel was nicely served and tasted pretty good. Big enough for two, it was exactly what we wanted our first night in Germany. We enjoyed it so much, we wanted to return to dinner next night to try their dinner selection. When the young lady took the check, we tried to pay the amount of 5.50 euros with a credit card. She shook her head and seemed to say they don't take credit cards, so we gave her a 20 Euro note. When she made our change, she put the coins on the table with their values and quickly went away. After we turned them all around and counted, we realized that they had cut us 1 euro and tips are already included in the cost of food in restaurants in Germany. She was either too stupid to count the change from 5.50 to 20, or she deliberately changed us briefly. While the coins with their values face-down seemed dishonest to show, we prefer to think they are honest, but simply too stupid to change a 20 Euro note. No matter if you do not speak the language or especially if you are unfamiliar with the euro coins and their different values, be careful wherever you travel.
