Whiskey River On Ingersoll - Des Moines

Horrible I will never come here again, the manager was beyond rude, we asked for the fight to be turned on and she instantly snapped on us. Then yelled at her staff in front of everyone. The food was good the server was so sweet but the manager is absolutely horrible. Those poor servers hopefully they find better soon.

Great food and staff. My husband loves their meatball sandwich and their burgers are amazing. Definitely try their chicken wrap! Always a favorite to eat at when in Iowa.

Went to whiskey river in des moines, knowing that I liked the one in Ankeny. The waitress had only been there for two days so I didn't really blame her, she should have had better training(former waitress, a lot of places especially after covid are mass hiring and not training). Server kept telling us that they were short staffed and call outs had happened, waited almost an hour in a not very busy restaurant for any kind of food. Appetizers were good, main dishes were terrible. Burnt well done burgers, chicken sandwich tasted odd, we ended up leaving half our food. We ordered classic mules for our beverage. I thought that full copper cups were illegal in des moines, but I haven't recently verified that and all the mules were made with something other than ginger beer and not garnished with anything (also a former bartender). It was an experience that will lead me to not return and not refer.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Came in at 11:30 on a weekday for lunch and notice only 1 other table was occupied. Seated ourselves because no waiters were seen. After 10 minutes, the waiter brought us menus. The other table was brought 3 of 5 meals and could overhear them complaining how long it took to get the food and they were still waiting on 2 more meals. After another 20 minutes of waiting for the waiter to come back to ask what we wanted to drink, we decided to leave.We passed the waiter on the way out and told him we waited 30 minutes and were leaving. He then said they had 1 chef and started cursing and yelling at the chef that people were leaving. I'm not sure why he needed the chefs help asking people what they wanted to drink...? His lack of attention had nothing to do with the chef.All he needed to do was communicate with us that they were a little behind. The chef should have been able to manage 1 table of food on his own. I can't imagine this place If they were actually busy....yikes.
