The Slow Down Coffee Co. - Des Moines

Unfortunately, my daughter’s experience at Slow Down was quite dismissive and uncomfortable. The barista wearing a mask engaged with everyone around us but completely ignored us. I'm not sure what we did to warrant this treatment. As business owners ourselves, we believe in treating everyone with kindness, so this was particularly disappointing.

Great atmosphere complemented by locally sourced coffee, and you can truly savor the difference.

I really enjoyed my chai latte! The atmosphere was quite laid-back and calming, with books and games to enjoy. However, the barista on duty during our visit seemed more focused on chatting with one particular table, which left others waiting in line to order their drinks. If I had been in line, I would have felt a bit awkward and uncomfortable. As for dietary restrictions, they do have gluten-free options for their baked goods. Parking is limited, with about nine spots available on the side of the building.

CUTE coffee shop and by far my favorite local spot in the Highland Park Neighborhood. The Lavender Honey is spectacular.

They host fantastic board game nights! And their beverages are delicious!
