Scenic Route Bakery - Des Moines

My husband stopped for lunch today and enjoyed our first visit here. The cute salad was delicious and my husband made his hot ham and cheese sandwich. We shared a rosemary limonade that was unique and tasty. Loved the bright atmosphere and there were many seats. I'm glad to come back soon!

What a funny and busy place. Just had a black coffee, but you can get everything you want. The pastry has the choice... what ugly. I wanted to be good and not eat candy. Once you go in you will be welcomed immediately, then try with a bakery choice. SOLD! I have a delicious blueberry flamakey bakery, I could've eaten two of them! They were busy, but still had many places to sit and enjoy everything.

This is by far the best cafe in all Des Moines and probably all Iowa! You will fall in love with the high energy atmosphere and the friendly helpful staff always has great recommendations. The pastries are incomparable with my favorite being their gears, which are crispy on the outside, but melt in your mouth. You also have a fantastic rotating lunch menu with fresh ingredients on site. The beverage selection is also on point with delicious apple cider in autumn and a refreshing rosemary lemonade for the summer my two favorite! All in all, I can't say enough about this place, it's amazing and I highly recommend going here for Din in or out.

I've been here a handful of times over the course of 2 years. Service is always quick and friendly. They even entertain some of my long-winded questions with patience. I especially love their bialys and sandwiches. Coffee is also always good but my go-to is their seasonal iced teas! Great place to meet with friends for a quick lunch! Even at their busiest hour.

Great prices and friendly staff! Latte wasn’t too sweet or bitter. Really cute place with plenty of tables or couches to chat or get work done. Super popular place so it isn’t quiet
