Was Nick Chill at Buzzard Billy's a mag?
We made an unexpected stop here, and it turned out to be fantastic. The exterior is quite unassuming, but inside, the lively sports bar atmosphere is a pleasant surprise. Our hostess was somewhat reserved, but our server was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The cocktails were delicious, as were the blackened catfish and shrimp creole. We were especially pleased to find they offer a dedicated 'Gluten Friendly Men... View all feedback.
What Nick Chill dislikes about Buzzard Billy's:
Considering the overall quality, I was left unsatisfied. While I know they hope for good tips, it's hard to justify tipping when the drinks were like this. You might think I'm being picky, but when I spend over $100 on a meal and receive this level of service, it makes me reconsider returning. To make matters worse, there were flies buzzing around while we ate, making it a struggle to keep them off our food. View all feedback.
We visited BB's on a Tuesday night during the busy State Fair week and we actually went here because we were underdressed for anything else downtown and it...
We haven't visited in some time, because, well it's just not as good as when it used to be on Court Ave. Recipes have changed and some key beloved items...
If you're coming here for the first time don't have high expectations with the customer service because you won't find it. Went to sit at the bar and...
Great place with some really good Cajun food. Would definitely recommend the armadillo eggs as they were incredible. Good atmosphere with that food. The portions here are pretty big so we were able to take plenty of food home. The alligator here isalso really good and one of the only places I know to get it here in Des Moines. We will be returning to try more of the food asthe menu had many good looking options
WOW!! Amazingly good! Reasonably priced for what they are offering. We tried the gator bites and a cowboy burger with a side salad. The gator was very good and we lived over 35 years on the Texas Gulf coast and in south Louisiana so we know good gator. The gator came with a tasty honey mustard dip. The burger was a 1/2# patty topped with perfectly cooked smoked bacon andsmoked cheddar cheese and brisket burnt ends. Nice BBQ aioli sauce. The salad was a very nice mix with everything we couldwant included. Fresh crisp lettuce, tomatoes, chopped red onion and sliced cucumber covered with shredded cheese. Ayla was ourserver and she was very helpful guiding us thru the menu options. We moved back to Iowa over 15 years ago and we eat out oftenbut this was our BEST dining out experience in Iowa EVER!! Already thinking of an excuse to get back over that way so we caneat at Buzzard Billy's again and try some other things on that menu. Maybe some blackened seafood or jerk chicken as thepictures of those look delicious. I HIGHLY recommend it!!! Oh, BTW, they gave us $2 off of the appetizer because it'sThursday. ?? I'd like to know more about discounts for weekdays, etc.
