Great place for lunch. Soups, salads, and paninis with smaller portions and prices to match. Service was just right and views of downtown from the third sorry is a great backdrop. View all feedback.
Above the State Historical Museum there is a great view of the city centre. We were at the museum with our 7 10 years old niece and nephew and needed lunch. Cafe Barratta turned out to be an excellent choice. Good food, relatively cheap, decent children's menu and lunch is a bargain. The service was very good. I think they should rethink the pictures in the cafe: There is a series of an old guy getting a kind of massage therapy that are not pleasant to look at a meal. We will definitely eat here at future visits to the museum.
Excellent food at reasonable prices, even more affordable during their blue plate speciality in January. Great views to downtown Des Moines and the Capitol. Kinda hard to find the entrance to the Iowa Historical Museum. Here is a tip: Come on to the north side of the building on Grand Avenue. Take the elevator up. Your lasagna is delicious.
What a very pleasant surprise. If it's just because it's so convenient in the Iowa History Museum, but what a treat. Very good pannine and pasta salad. Great service.
We recently held a rehearsal dinner at Cafe Baratta's at the State Historical Museum in Des Moines. It was exactly what the couple wanted and the staff at Baratta's couldn't work better! They were gracious with any question that we had and treated all with such respect it was an absolute pleasure to work with them. The food was excellent and we would recommend Barattas!
