What a great find this place is! There was plenty of choice for snacks or main meals and the staff are very welcoming and happy to adapt to your requests. I went with my friend and our two young children and we were all made to feel at home. Two main meals for us, two lighter meals for the children along with drinks for all and we had change from a tenner! We took a quiche home to sample and I can honestly say it was... What marie943 doesn't like about May's:
The floor was dirty and there were mouse droppings on the floor, creating a health hazard. I went in with a friend but was too embarrassed to complain. The restaurant has definitely seen better times and the cakes were stale. I will not be returning. View all feedback.
Firstly can I say we stayed across the road from May's kitchen not the restaurant and May was in that kitchen from about 0430am every morning working hard and baking all the lovely goods you get in their café round the corner so full respect for Mrs May as we fondly nicknamed her we are not stalkers I just woke up early and looked out the window! anyway we went in the café and bought some lovely cakes and they really were amazing

I highly recommend this fantastic bakery located in the center of Wirksworth. It is clean, operated by a friendly elderly couple, and everything is homemade. They offer a variety of cakes, pastries, pies, as well as coffee, tea, and cold drinks at reasonable prices. Additionally, it is conveniently located near Wirksworth railway station. I make sure to stop by for some treats whenever I take the train up from Duffield for the afternoon. Highly recommended!

This restaurant is operated by a kind senior couple who also handle all the baking themselves. They offer a variety of delicious homemade savory and sweet treats. One interesting new item they are experimenting with is a minced beef and mushy peas pie. It may not be trendy or modern, but it's definitely worth trying for the unique experience it offers.
