Good music and good value drinks. Have not been for a very long time and it has changed since I last went (no longer serves food and more open plan than it was). Won't leave it as long until I next go, View all feedback.
What niffenhelm doesn't like about Half Moon Inn:
Absolute utter rubbish sums up just about everything in this pub. Terrible food, terrible beer, a landlord that couldn't care less about his business or staff and very strange wife swapper customers. It's almost like someone made an effort to make this place the worst pub in derby. View all feedback.

Best thing about Half Moon is it's delightful garden out of the back. There is outdoor seating for eating, covered appropriately, as well as chill out areas with comfy seats, hammocks and plenty of lighting. For children there's also a treasure hunt style activity for children to find all of the crescent moons around the garden. A great place to come for drink/food
This place serves distinctly ordinary pub food. All the traditionals are there, from fish and chips through to burgers. Reasonably priced? Yes. Good beer?? Certainly. Pedigree, Doombar. But do not expect a culinary extravaganza. But if you're really hungry after a few beers.....
Let me start by saying the 2 members of staff at the half moon where very friendly and seemed genuinely concerned about what had happened and did their best to try and make what was a complete disaster a little bit better. However it is very disappointing when someone had taken the time to arrange a Christmas party for 16/17 people and when you arrive at the pub the staff don't know anything about. The party was booked at least 8 weeks previously and a cash deposit paid. We had to choose our food well before the date and our orders where given to the staff in advance. Plus the person organising the party had popped into the pub 3 days before to confirm all was sorted. But on the night there was no table set for a large christmas party and the chef had to rush across the road to the local co-op and get at least 2 big very full carrier bags of food. At this point we all knew we where not staying because it was very clear that we where not going to get the party that had been advertised. So after a good 35 mins of waiting around The manager/landlord (not sure which he was) finally came to sort the cash deposit out and gave his half hearted apologies. To be honest he really didn't seem to care what had happened which is a surprise because his pub will have lost a big chunk of money that night and the reputation of his pub will be in question now too. So it's safe to stay we won't be returning there again. We did however have a fantastic Christmas party night and lovely food at the red chilli restaurant across the road.
Arriving early for friends living nearby we were advised to wait in their local for them to arrive. Being very inviting and having a lovely garden we couldn't say no. In no time it was our local as well enjoying every possible wait with a fresh drink and losing a pub quiz big time on their weekly pub quiz night!
