Called in for a pint and I must say the selection of beers/ales is first class, pint went down without to much bother. Enjoyable ambience in this traditional pub with lots of interesting items on the walls. View all feedback.
What ACP1963 doesn't like about Mr Grundy's Tavern And Brewery:
We all went on a weekend for a family meal and drinks. The steaks are advertised without any pre cooked weights. Not sure if that’s allowed or not. If we had known how thin the T bone and rib eyes were and how badly cooked they were, we would have gone elsewhere. I don’t know what the cook did, but we’ve never had such dried out pieces of meat. Never again as they say. The beers good though. View all feedback.
This has to be the worst lasagne that I have ever eaten, this was bulked out with peppers and carrots, give me more beef in it and charge a bit more if needs be, when we were as how was the food and replied it was different and before we could elaborate the staff member disappeared, would we eat in here again, a resounding NO.
Plain and simple, food took 40 mins to arrive and was awful, if there was a level lower than terrible that is Mr Grundys food
Visited mr grundys saturday lunch time around 1pm . the lady behind the bar was pleasant and took our food and drink order. we ordered a cheese and onion baguette a cheese and ham baguette and some chips . after about 10 mins we were informed they had no baguettes they had sold out the night before (cant understand why no one went to get some fresh ones saturday morning .as im sure they sell lots . anyway we were offered cobs or dread so we said cobs would be fine . about half an hour later out came our food . all looked fine and was nicely presented . my husband picked his cob up and the bread was that stale it just fell to pieces. i bit into mine and the tasts of stale bread was too much and it was dry and hard . i took our plates back to the bar . stood there for at least 5 mins the lady on the bar was no were to be seen . then another younger lady came out who i presume was the chef . she was rude and her attitude was awful . her face was like thunder and when i told her the bread was stale she said very loudly and nastily . no it isnt its just come out of the oven , when i said it cant have the cobs are cold she snatched them off the bar . slamed them down at the back of the bar and repeated herslf . i then asked for a refund . the 1st lady apeared at this point and the chef said nastily to her can u do this refund and shot me a dirty look and went off !!!! the bar lady apologised to me and gave me a refund . this is not what you want at all . i will not be back and will not recomend .
Great place for a drink, but the food was a real let down. We came here for Sunday lunch paid £8.50 for a meal that was frozen veg, grey meat. Surely a hotel has the facilities to cook a fresh Sunday lunch? As i say, lovely place to drink, but very disappointed by the food.
Such a shame this used to be a great place to eat with friendly staff
