Dining at this local diner was a delightful experience! The pancakes and hash browns were fantastic, and Casey provided exceptional service. I can't understand the previous negative reviews—this place is a real gem! The lattes were great, the atmosphere was inviting, and the hospitality was outstanding. Thank you once again, Casey! What User doesn't like about Wendell's:
The service here is at best mediocre. The food is decent but overpriced. If they could improve the service to match the quality of the cooking, this place could be a solid four-star restaurant. It's only busy on weekends, yet even on weekdays, the service remains poor. Today, the waiter acted as if we were a nuisance. On the other hand, the bartender has always been friendly. The cool location and the food were great. The pancakes are so yummy with a great texture and they have real syrup! There are no prices on the menu, so you don't know how much you're spending until you get the check.Vegetarian options: Instead of bacon or sausage you can get avacado
My family and I absolutely LOVE this place! We make a point to stop here whenever we go to Denver. Even if it's an hour out of our way, we HAVE to go! Best Gluten Free options by far! The staff is awesome, the atmosphere is rockin', the libations are on point! We only wish they lived closer to us!! Will not ever miss a chance to stop by and have the greatest food EVER! Until next time Wendells WE LOVE YOUDietary restrictions: I'm Gluten Free and they make THE BEST food options. I don't feel deprived when going out to eat here, so many options!
YUM, they aren’t lying when they say they have the best pancakes in Denver. I’m gluten free (I have celiacs disease) and they have almost everything on the menu is able to be made GF. I ordered the berry cream waffle with extra berries, and omg it was delicious. I also ordered an espresso martini and it was to die for, one of the best I’ve ever had. They are incredibly accommodating to families, and made it so easy to get whatever my kiddos wanted. We had gone on Father’s Day and everywhere was busy, I had called them a couple of times and wasn’t able to get through to anyone to make a reservation, so I emailed them, and right away the manager called me and emailed me back and was able to get us in! I was shocked as many places don’t even get back to you for days if you email. And they ensured that my family was able to make a reservation at the time we wanted, and greeted us right when we walked in saying they were sorry about the phones, and I was just so pleased with their hospitality and the service. You could tell that they knew a lot of the neighbors that come in often, and that made me so happy to see that a restaurant cares about their customers. They went above and beyond, and we will definitely be back! Thank you all so much ??Dietary restrictions: A huge selection of GF, and they were willing to make anything I asked for to be made for my mom and myself! And it all was soooo good, you wouldn’t even know you had been eating GF unless someone told you, it was that good.
I don 't get the rave reviews. It was ok. There 's no prices on the menu and if you ask, you just get eye rolls and a generic answer of $13-15 , but my food was 17ish. The service was slow. I get it, it 's weekend brunch, but while we were waiting there were 8 empty tables waiting to be cleared and the bartender is also the host so you have to wait for him to finish a round of drinks before you are seated. Not worth the wait and there 's plenty of other places to go nearby.
We have been going to Wendell’s for years, and until recently we loved it. For adults… not so much for kids. Their servers have always been nice and the food really good. We were shocked at what a different experience we had when we recently dined there with our kids. It was basically the opposite experience. We were treated so incredibly rudely, we almost left. The bartender tried to seat us at the shared middle table after a 30 minute wait (the table was empty the whole time we were there, so why we had to wait that long if that’s where he was going to seat us is unclear). We said our 2 year old wouldn’t be able to sit on a spinning barstool. He was visibly annoyed, shrugged and said, “Well there isn’t a booth that will fit you all.” We pointed to an empty booth and told him we could fit fine there. He suppressed an eye roll and told us fine. The visit continued in the same fashion and we were so frustrated by the end that we agreed to never return. This is a family neighborhood and restaurants need to expect children to eat at their establishments. If they don’t welcome kids they need to remove their kids menu. A big NO for families with kids.
