the first time here and I loved it! almost midday on weekday and it was packed in front. we found a lot of space to sit down, although most people eat out. super fast and spicy and delicious. I have the kartoffel and egg deluxe burrito. my friend has the beef deluxe burrito. I had a little more meat. I'm not a hard vegetarian. also the plastic water is quite thin for such a sturdy burrito, but I wish I had brought my... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Original Chubby's Denver:
ok green chili is great. but are they willing that they must earn it, must with some attitudes from the workers and a waiting time that is simply ridiculous sometimes. eating is great. destined not known for their customer satisfaction, they wish one day that they somehow change. View all feedback.
Mistakes with orders are very common at this restaurant. If you realize there is an issue with your order and try to get a refund or have it fixed, the staff will often refuse. I have been a customer for 15 years and they consistently mess up my order by using green chili instead of the red chili I request. During my most recent visit, I checked my order before leaving and specifically asked for red chili fries. The staff member seemed to confirm this, but when I got home, I found that they had given me green chili instead. It was frustrating to realize that the receipt had been ripped off the bag so I couldn't see their mistake. Despite their high prices and the current economy, they are quick to take customers' money without consideration for their mistakes. It's disappointing to experience this level of dishonesty from a business. Located in the heart of Denver, surrounded by homeless individuals, I will no longer be supporting this establishment.
I was very dissatisfied with the. Food and the wait was long as well as wait to get your order. Over ratted definitely! It was good about 4 yrs back but I went in June and was very disappointed. The chili on the smothered fries was so spicy and bland that I couldn't eat. Before they would ask if you wanted mild med or spicy and they didn't ask this time. It's just not the same since the original owners left the restaurant, guess they aren't following the same recipes anymore. Definitely not going back there ever!!
I recently dined at Chubby's and was disappointed with my experience. The green chile I ordered was not the same as I remembered from my youth. The red chile was more like an enchilada sauce, which was not what I was expecting. I was also disappointed in the size of the burritos, which left me feeling unsatisfied. Overall, I was craving the original chile that I remember from before.
It's not spicy anymore I haven't had it since I've moved back from Phoenix so I got the large extra cheese and Chile and it wasn't spicy at all kinda saddened by my experience. Usually i need to stop for milk but not this
I really enjoyed the food. I’m very sad I won’t be eating here again. It’s a counter order place like any fast food. The 1 star service and atmosphere is only because I was forced to add a tip to my credit card but there is no staff tending the dining room. The credit card machine forces you to tip with the cashier staring on. I’m afraid not to tip in such situations because they just need to give a signal to the kitchen and I get extra phlegm in my food. So they extorted me for another 15% although I’m sure the staff makes far more hourly than the $10.81 Colorado waitstaff wage that tips were designed for. I do not complain when my table is dirty at a fast food place that asks for no tip. But when a tip is required, I expect service for that 15-25%. At minimum, a clean table and staff to box my leftovers and take my trash then clean the table when I leave ready to welcome the next guest. That is not this place. It is a fast food place that demands tips with no waitstaff. Was my first time trying this Colorado icon, and I’m sorry to say, despite the great food I will never return. If I could afford a 15% tip, which is their minimum with a cashier staring on, I would go to a full service restaurant. No option for custom tip or “no tip” but an employee, responsible for my food, staring on. Dear owners: Please change this practice as tips are for employees making the 2023 Colorado waiter wage of $10.81 hour. Put a tip jar for cash out so tipping is a choice, not required while an employee stares and judges your customers.
