What Mike C dislikes about Salt Grinder:
I went there to order a sandwich meal and when I tried to prepay, discovered an extra 4$ charge that I was told was a tip that cannot be removed. Since when is tipping mandatory BEFORE being served? I'll tell you when. It's when the greedy a owner won't pay a livable wage and wants the general public to do it. I canceled my order. I will not be held hostage for MANDATORY TIPS! View all feedback.
The service was quick and excellent. Our total came to less than $17 for two people, who shared a sandwich, and each plate included its own side. We were very satisfied with both the service and the quality of the food. The Wild Turkey sandwich was generously layered with ingredients and quite filling, while the arugula side salad was refreshing and flavorful. I would definitely come back.

My first visit to the restaurant was a bit of a mix-up. I ordered food online at 3 PM, not knowing they closed at 3:30 PM. When I arrived after 3:30, I found the restaurant closed. However, when I went back the next morning and explained the situation, they kindly offered to remake my order fresh. The salads were fantastic, and the customer service was outstanding!
If you're going to require a mandatory 20% tip for takeout orders, at least make sure the orders are correct! This restaurant is part of a large restaurant group that certainly has the resources to pay their staff, yet they choose to pass that responsibility onto customers. The food here is mediocre at best. There are plenty of other restaurants on 32nd Street that are far more deserving of your patronage.
This is a fantastic little place for lunch! The staff were incredibly friendly and thoughtful. My partner and I ordered the rare beast and chopped, along with a side of coleslaw and truffle fries. Everything was delicious! We were also pleasantly surprised by how quickly our order arrived.
