Contribute FeedbackRioja offers a menu with a mix of hits and misses, featuring dishes such as the exquisite Artichoke Tempura and the delicious Hazelnut nuts, while falling short on items like the Saffron Fatuccine and Ricotta Gnocchi. The food is beautifully presented and tasty, but the same cannot be said for the inconsistent service experience. Despite some minor mishaps with the food temperature and sauce portions, the strawberry rhubarb ice cream and artichoke ravioli shine on the menu. The ambiance is marred by a lack of climate control, but the overall dining experience is saved by attentive servers. In contrast, Rioja consistently delivers great food and service, making it a standout favorite in LoDo. The elegant food presentation, along with dishes like chestnut soup and handmade ice cream, make for a memorable dining experience. The menu is well-rounded, featuring offerings such as filet mignon and Royal Red Shrimp. However, the late brunch experience was not as strong, with underwhelming drinks but great selections from the happy hour menu. On a positive note, the sangria and appetizers like the tempura shishito peppers were hits. Overall, Rioja offers a mix of highs and lows, making it a restaurant worth trying for its standout dishes and impeccable service on the better nights.
Dined at the Rioja bar for dinner a couple of weeks ago while visiting Denver. I do not usually write reviews, but felt the need to due to the exceptional food, drinks, atmosphere and service. Also, wanted to give a huge thank you to John for taking care of us while we were there. Thanks for all the recommendations for the rest of our trip!!
This was one of the most stunningly good meals of my life. The burrata ships from Italy. The staff are amazingly friendly and easy going. Exemplary locally owned place.
Drinks were great. The service was great as well. We got a goat cheese tart that was pretty good, and for entrees got the lamb which was also good. I got the duck entree and for 41$ it was such a small portion. It was lacking flavor and pretty chewy. I don't have a problem with small entrees or high prices but It just wasn't good and I'm a duck fan. The food was a let down.
They’re happy hours misleading and they charged us full price for a house wine. The bread was great. My rare steak came out medium instead of rare I asked for. Super disappointed. We spent $400 and I left feeling bad about it. Come here if you have extra money you don’t care about.
One of the only places downtown with a kitchen that is open late! We were able to eat around 10 pm after a show. The staff were wonderful, and the food was incredible. Highly recommend the octopus.
