I finally had the chance to try the Ethiopian cuisine at Queen of Sheba on East Colfax, and what a gem this place is! The owner is a wonderful lady who takes on the roles of bartender, server, and chef in this cozy spot that feels like dining in her own home. All the meats are exquisite, and the lentils and potatoes are fantastic for the vegetarian crowd! If you need gluten-free injera, be sure to call ahead a few da... View all feedback.
This might be the best meal I've ever had in Denver. It was a unique experience like no other. Authentic Ethiopian cuisine prepared by an amazing woman. Enjoy your meal with your hands for an unforgettable dining experience.
A really impressive operation by a really sweet woman. She's the host, the waitress and the cook. All by herself. You have to admire everything about it. The food she cooks is amazing, and worth a try even if you're scared of international foods. I promise you it's worth it.
I dream about this place. I ate there years ago with some colleagues while there on a work trip. They too LOVED the food and one told me he tried to ‘find’ the place again on his last trip to Denver but couldn’t. He should’ve asked me because I definitely remember and it’s the first spot I’ll go next time I’m in the city. What stands out most in all our memories is the AMAZING aromas. In the restaurant, as our food arrived, and when we reheated the leftovers for lunch the next day. The smell is just tantalizing. The taste was out-of-this-world delicious too. We all agreed. I had the vegetarian combo platter and I’ve used it as the benchmark for all Ethiopian food I’ve had since. No other has measured up btw, and I think I’m doomed forever to be disappointed now that I’ve eaten at Queen of Sheba. It was my first time trying Ethiopian food and it’s now one of my absolute favorites. I’ve even learned to cook one recipe myself and I make it at home for my family who loves it, although it’s certainly not as good as Queen of Sheba’s, plus I haven’t tried to make injera. The atmosphere was really nice as well. We appreciated the unhurried pace so we could talk and enjoy our food, and really ‘have a meal together’ rather than just eat.The owner/server was very welcoming and informative. You can tell how much I enjoyed this place as it’s been years since our visit and I’m still dreaming about it today, really wishing I could taste that wonderful food again today!
My Actual Review: The food is delicious. Uncontroversial opinion. *You* yes, *you* will like it; it’s good. Just trust me on this. Go here, and give a big tip. Why I’m Giving a Five Star Review: The owner/chef/waiter is a complete doll. America’s mom/grandma. She’ll make your acquaintance. You’ll like her. She’ll make you think she likes you too. You’ll want to give her a hug by the end of the meal. *And* the food is actually delicious (see above). Like I said give a big tip.

It's essential to make a reservation since there are only about six tables available!
