This traditional Greek bakery in the heart of town has a nostalgic charm. A group of elderly patrons enjoyed watching sports in the back. The desserts were overly sweet, but the spanakopita was surprisingly delicious and generously sized. View all feedback.
What Scott Werner doesn't like about Omonoia Bakery:
I discovered this restaurant on Google and decided to give it a try after seeing the review photos. I ordered the Spinach pie and the Galaktikaburo, and while they were decent, they weren't anything special. The downside was the location - it was a 10-minute walk from Colorado Blvd, but I had to pass by closed abandoned buildings, drug rehab facilities, and tattoo parlors. Fabulous spanakopita, it is incredibly flakey with the perfect blend of spinach, egg and cheese. The feta cheese pastry is also fantastic! On the sweet side, we LOVED the walnut cake which was super moist and flavored with orange and spices. Be sure to order the honey cakes...yum! There are so many beautiful desserts you will want to try them all :
I needed a small piece of cake for my boyfriend’s home birthday celebration. I found that place and was not disappointed at all. The Lemon cake was great, we enjoyed it after dinner i served it with some strawberries on the side. They have variety of sweets but if you want a whole cake you should preorder. I’ll go back, for tiramisu and Napoleon
Best Spinach Pie (Spanakopita) and Galaktoboureko (Semolina Custard Dessert) in Denver. The perfect stop for lunch or a sweet treat with coffee. This is a true Denver gem that has withstood the test of time it’s been in its small Colfax location for decades.
I have loved every morsel from here for over 20 years. When the legacy was passed from master to apprentice, the apprentice truly rose up and became equally excellent. The coffee cream honey cake is not nearly as sweet as it sounds, and will melt across your tongue. The tirades is the best I 've ever had ever anywhere. There isn 't anything that won 't delight, and all flavors are so balanced that you 'll never worry about it being 'too sweet '. Even simple honey cookies have just enough crumble and crunch. I miss living a block away and finding a treasure easily.
It’s a little small in there, but the pastries are amazing! The spanakopita is one of the largest and best I’ve had and the Tiropita was amazing!
